Trail Wallet is an easy travel expense tracker. Designed to be fast, it takes the headache out of expense tracking so you can focus on the fun.
"Trail Wallet…is the best travel-centric expense tracking app I’ve used." The Professional Hobo
"Trail Wallet is super easy to use, fast, and has a fun and beautiful interface." Too Many Adapters
BUILT BY TRAVELLERS
We are Simon Fairbairn and Erin McNeaney of Never Ending Voyage, a couple who've been travelling full time since March 2010. Managing our finances is what has enabled us to have so many wonderful experiences but, after 3 years on the road, we needed something better than scribbled notes, loose receipts, and complicated spreadsheets to track our expenses.
So we built Trail Wallet.
Nobody wants to worry about money while travelling, but we all do. Tracking your finances is a simple way to get some freedom from this financial anxiety.
Instead of just hoping you’ve got enough money, know.
QUICK AND SIMPLE
Road tested by tens of thousands of travellers, the app is simple, clear and easy to use.
Organise your expenses by trip or by month, set yourself a daily budget, then easily add expenses as you go. When you get a bill or receipt, launch the app, add the amount using the Quick Add screen and you’re done. Forget about it. Get on with your day.
No more collecting receipts in bags or pockets. No more sitting with a calculator trying to work out how you’re doing. No more trying to remember how much that tuk-tuk cost.
At the end of the day or week or month or trip, you can see how you’re doing. A little over budget? No problem—our app will tell you what’s eating up your cash. Under budget? Good job—send a little reassurance to your friends and family using your favourite social media platform.

3.4.4
Images that are not downloaded to your device are not avaialble for export. Trail Wallet will now warn you if you attempt to export images that are not downloaded and give you the chance to download them first.
If you are having any issues with the app or if there's a feature you'd like to see, please contact me directly at simon@voyagetravelapps.com so I can assist you.
Thanks!

3.4.3
- Fixes an issue with the date spreader possibly not including the first date - Fixes a startup crash issue that a small number of users were experiencing - Updates for GDPR compliance
** 3.4 Release Notes **
I am pleased to announce: PHOTO SUPPORT!
[celebration emoji] [big smiling face emoji] [exhausted relief emoji]
- Images are attached to individual amounts (one image per amount) - You can import images from your photo library or take new photos with the camera - Tapping on an image on the Add Amount screen will show you a full size version - Images are backed up to iCloud with the rest of your data - You can export all of your images at once from the Share screen using any supported method (messages, email, AirDrop, save to library, print, etc.) - Exported CSV files have a reference to the image filename so you can match up the photos in your spreadsheets
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!
- Tapping on a bar chart now shows you a complete summary of that day's data - New Caledonia currency added - Spreading amounts support has been much improved—if your trip has a fixed end date, it won't let you spread an amount past the last day - Add Amount screen won't let you save if you haven't entered an amount (this one's for me: sometimes I get so caught up entering the metadata, I forget to add the actual amount itself) - Drag and Drop support for reordering categories and trips (iOS 11 only) - Tons of other bug fixes and small enhancements
Because the new photo system uses iCloud to store photos alongside your amount data. I've tried to choose a photo resolution that balances low file sizes with enough definition for you to read those receipts in the future. I'm trying not to burn through your iCloud allowance but let me know if you feel I haven't got the file size/resolution balance right!
If you are having any issues with the app or if there's a feature you'd like to see, please contact me directly at simon@voyagetravelapps.com so I can assist you.
Thanks!
Simon
3.4.2
- Fixes some more bugs with exporting images - Fixes an issue where Spread Amounts would not include the last day of the trip - Fixes issue with restoring purchases when Auto Add enabled
** 3.4 Release Notes **

# 3.2 Release Notes
Happy New Year! This update is coming at you from sunny Bali!
The backup system has been overhauled—Dropbox is gone and Trail Wallet now uses iCloud to make a daily back up of your data. If you are logged in to iCloud, you don't need to do anything (although you can switch it off if you'd like).
Trail Wallet will start syncing daily backups quietly in the background, meaning that should the worst happen, you'll be able to easily get your data back.
Please note that is not true syncing—we are still working on getting that up and running.
# Here's what else is new in this version:
* Added new introduction screens for new users to help them get set up. * The Trip management screen has been redesigned to be quicker and easier—you can reorder and add new trips directly from the trip selection screen, and you can edit current trips by tapping the i disclosure button next to that trips. * Month View is now no longer a separate view—it remembers what your last trip was and adds new amounts to that trip, making switching between Month and Trip views more seamless. * Budgets are now calculated using the exchange rate recorded each day instead of the latest exchange rate. * Lithuanian currency updated to use the Euro * Added support for the new iPad Pro! * Fixed issue where you might see incorrect totals when switching between currencies. * Fixed issue where exporting CSV in Month View would miss out the Trip name * Fixed issue where exporting CSV would shift dates around (time zones are the WORST) * Fixed issue where popover on Graph View would appear in the wrong place * Stopped the Summary screen from animating so much * Fixed issue where popover would not disappear after moving amounts to a different trip * Fixed issue where app would crash if you deleted a tag that was currently selected * Fixed a bunch of iPad UI issues
If you have any issues with Trail Wallet, please contact me directly at simon@voyagetravelapps.com as I can't respond to reviews.
# OBLIGATORY REVIEW ASK
As always, if you like Trail Wallet and you want us to keep working on it, we need to reach more people! One of the best ways is through leaving glowing 5-star reviews on the iTunes.
Think of it as a as a secondary Feature Generating Factory (the first being, obviously, the purchase of Unlimited Amounts =) ), in which you input characters into the review form and at some unspecified future date, out comes a new version of Trail Wallet with new features and bug fixes!
Even if you never get around to leaving a review, we appreciate you taking the time to try Trail Wallet and your support of indie developers (specifically, this indie developer)!
Much love,
Simon Voyage Travel Apps

New favorite App!
I'm pretty good at budgeting during trips... it's day to day life that I falter. I wanted an app to track my daily extravagances on coffee shops and happy hours and pizza deliveries when I should be cooking good old fashioned meals at home. All the expense trackers I searched were way too inclusive and had such boring interfaces. THIS ONE, however, was instantly fun and happy and didn't try to monitor every household expenditure. It was super easy to figure out, as well as to modify categories to suit exactly what I was looking for. I created a "Trip" titled "Life - October", input start and end dates, adjusted my category headings, and diligently recorded every time I ate out or got groceries. When I used up the first 25 free entries, I gladly paid for the unlimited upgrade. And at the end of the month, I now have a lovely pie chart that tells me that I spend as much on happy hours w/friends as I do on monthly groceries. I think I'll have to work on that... "Life - November" is currently in progress, and I have a feeling this pie chart will look more balanced when it's done. Also, I can't wait to use it on my next real trip!!!

No hassle travel or daily expenses
I needed something to track expenses for my six month adventure in South America. It had to be simple enough to enter all little things throughout the day. At the same time it had to have features to categorize expenses and good interface to visualize everything. I tried a few apps and found this app to be the winner. It’s super simple to add expenses and gives me all that I need to track my budget. I got used to the app so much, I kept using it for my daily expenses after my travel. I have a nice little breakdown of all expenses at the end of the year. The only feature I wish the app had was the ability to copy an old expense item and add it to a new date. Would make the recurring monthly expense tracking so much faster. Thanks guys!

Great App for Quick Easy Trip Expenses.
I previously used trip boss to track my expenses but after updating my phone I had problems with it. I loved that app and all its features in it but when forced to look elsewhere, I am so glad I found this app. It’s so much easier to set up, has quick entries that keep your expenses in categories, and the charts are a good visual too. I would have given it 5 stars but I don’t care for the characters and wish you could tune them off. I even bought the extra ones so I had more options but I don’t care for them either. This really isn’t that big of a deal, I just wish I could turn them off or have better ones to choose from or even just theme colors I could personalize. Other than that this app works great and I will be using it with every trip I take.
