TransKey is a custom keyboard extension that translates the last sentence of any text field inside any app (such as iMessage, Messenger, Whatsapp, Skype, Email, and many more).
TransKey also works the other way around. Copy the text you can't understand and TransKey will show you what it means in your native language.

Simply write what you want to say with your preferred keyboard, then right before sending your message tap and hold the globe button and select TransKey. After you've chosen your target language, tap translate "textfield" and you'll see the translation almost immediately. From there you can easily replace the original text or copy the translation to your pasteboard.
If you'd like to translate a message you received, simply copy it and select translate "clipboard" in TransKey. The translation will appear in the same place.

Mostly works, but need to keep switching keyboards
It is confusing why this keyboard doesn't have a built in keyboard for actual typing what needs translation, you need to use some other app's text box, type something with another keyboard, then switch to this one to actually translate what you typed. What should be one step takes 3 with this keyboard. It also appears to be case sensitive, and often fails to translate text.
Edit: the developer's reply has some good points, and I too prefer the standard iOS keyboard over just about any 3rd party ones. It is great that this app caters to these users. I tried using this one again, in a more real world situation, and it works pretty well when you know it's intended usage pattern.
I also tried another app called keyboard+ which does have a built in keyboard. I'm not sure which one I'll end up keeping, but I'm giving Transkey another chance.
I can see the benefit of simplicity of not including a full keyboard, but I think it would really help if there was at least an enter (and perhaps also delete) key. When typing for something like a web search, then translating with this app, I need to switch back to the default keyboard just to hit enter. It would be nice if there was an optionally enabled full built in keyboard, but I think just the enter key would be sufficient for many people.

This app works so well and it's so convenient to be able to translate right in the keyboard! No need for any other apps, and no more switching between apps when translating. The interface is so smooth and easy to use I absolutely love this 10/10
I have an issue
I have recently found my birth family in Romania , they don't speak English, today he sent me something and it keeps saying Microsoft Token Error or something to that sort, maybe me deleting it will fix the issue. Great app though
