Have you ever imagine how it looks like if the earth were transparent?
You could see the other side of the world under your foot.
It might be a fantastic landscape, with mirror-reversed continents and oceans.
You would also realize that eastern countries are not in "east", or western countries arenot in "west" as you had thought of.
TransparentEarth enables you to see-through the earth.
Camera overlay view shows the position of major cities on the reversed blue marble.
Discover and explore the another face of the world.
- Works only on iOS4.0 or higher.
- TransparentEarth is for entertainment purposes only. The compass accuracy may be reduced when you use it close to metalic objects or electric equipment.
Ratings and Reviews
This morning, out of the blue, I was struck by an idea: wouldn't it be great if there was an app that showed what the earth would look like if it was transparent! It could be called "Transparent Earth". I spent the next few hours fleshing out the idea, then I searched for it on the app store, and there was the app, almost exactly as I imagined it, right down to the name! It was an idea who's time had come. The only difference between my app and the real one is that my app would show a transparent overlay of the earths core, and the opposite side of the globe would look farther away then the closest part, not the other way around. But enough of my nitpicking! Great job, kudos.
Favorite App of all time
I love this app. You want to know why? It puts the world in perspective. Where are you in relation to the world? Up is up, down is down, right? Wrong. East isn't east, west isn't west. This archaic 2 dimensional view of the world is blown away, replaced with a perspective that allows us to know what it feels like to live on a sphere. 3 dimensions. Up is any way you want it to be, and south America is more left than I thought it was. And when I lay down, I turn my back on most of the human population. This app gives perspective, and that's more important than any Angry Bird.
Interesting and fun without clutter
This seems seems pretty interesting and fun in my first day of use. Not only do you "see" what continents and major cities are on the other side of the earth from you, but when you hold your phone more horizontally, you "see" where cities are as well. I'm certainly enjoying this, and I very much appreciate the clutter-free simplicity.
