Extremely easy to purchase tickets

My family and I went to Edinburgh on holiday and used the bus system to get around town. Our previous experience with bus systems in big cities was our trip to Dublin and that was kind of chaotic. I was very impressed on how easy it was to get on and off the bus and buy tickets with this app. We simply purchased five family day passes with the app and it loads right up for us to use. It puts all the tickets in your "available" section and as you need to use them, you activate one ticket at a time per day and it expires at 4 AM I believe. All you have to do is hold your phone up to the bus driver and he lets you on, it's that easy.

I would highly recommend this app to help you get around Edinburgh, along with the Bus & Tram app, which will help you plan your bus and tram routes to get you to where you need to go in Edinburgh.

Perfect for travel around city

We were in Edinburgh for 4 days, this was perfect! Paid for a Family Day pass, actually paid for 2 at a time as you have to spend at least 10 GBP each purchase. The pass was 8.75 and gave access to the buses and trams for 24 hours for 2 adults and 2 children, we are 2 adults and one 15 year old (who counts as a child) so this was the best “getting around” option. Just showed the app screen to driver or the porter asking for tickets.

Slow, Suboptimal App but Better than Coins

This is the payment option that no one asked for. We’d all be happy to just use our contactless cards, but instead, we have to enter card details into the app, then make a minimum purchase, specifying exactly what tickets we want well before we use them. On the bright side, we now have the option to pay with Apple Pay, making the process just a bit less painful.

Suggestion: just let me top up my account and pick the ticket I need, then deduct the price from my balance.

When it comes time to activate a ticket, the app takes just a bit too long to respond, often making it seem as if it’s frozen or resulting in you showing an “are you sure you want to activate this ticket?” prompt to a confused driver.

All in all, I’m happy the app exists because it means I don’t have to carry around change, but it’s not a good app and I just want to pay by card.
