I love this hotel!

Hotel Playa Azul is a gem. A boutique hotel with lovely small white sand beach (good for swimming or snorkeling) just steps from the ocean-view guest rooms. The front desk and restaurant service is warm, welcoming and attentive without exception. I write this now on the 6th night of our unforgettable 8-night stay. We're in one of the four, corner oceanfront jacuzzi suites. The round jacuzzi is on our private terrace with ocean views all around. Yesterday I had a private yoga lesson in our step-up sitting area. Overlooking the water there are palapas and lounges, plus lots of tucked away romantic spots from which to enjoy the sunset. We are not fans of all-inclusive and did not opt for that, but a delicious buffet breakfast is included daily, with fresh fruits, yogurts, lots of buffet options, juices, plus made-to-order eggs and waffles - all in the oceanfront terrace restaurant. For lunch/dinner, I love salads and fruits and my husband loves octopus and shrimp cocktails. The menu had plenty of options for us and everything in between. There's a dive shop right on site that also offers kayak, jet ski, snorkeling and a well-equipped spa. We did visit 5 or 6 other hotels on the island (most larger and most with higher ratings) to get a sense of what's available; not one came close to the ambiance of this hotel. I hate to recommend Hotel Playa Azul too strongly because there are only fifty guest rooms - and we plan to come back often!

Still not getting the point

I'm a regular contributor on TA. I don't see how they could make this App anymore annoying for contributors. You can add any pictures no matter where they're from with an iPhone. You have to take the photo with the iPad to submit it. So unless you're touring the world with your iPad in your hand (bad idea) you can't add any pictures later on when you get home to the Hotel or home and typing on your much bigger keyboard on the iPad; even though you're all migrated over from the iPhone. You have to pick up your phone even though all the pictures are now on the iPad because TA won't allow you to pick from Photo Stream. You can take a photo from an iPad and add it from the iPhone as soon as it migrates over but not vice versa. What this means may not be immediately apparent. It means that since you would always prefer to type on your iPad you need both devices if you want to add pictures. If you want to write a review with a tiny keyboard you're able to complete the whole process on it. It seems to me they don't trust me to use an original shot on my iPad but they don't mind if I do whatever I want from my iPhone. I contacted them last year because it really is quite a pain in the Asia and it's somewhat insulting/ degrading as well. I wish they would pay attention to what they've created.

I love me some Trip Advisor! We are road trippers, and this app is a staple for us on the road. We've found some awesome spots because of TA. We've also avoided some doozies.

Now, realize that they give you points and badges for making reviews. These points and badges mean abso-freaking-lutely nothing. Nada. Squat. Zero. Zilch. The whole point of Trip Advisor is that you are getting unbiased, unpaid, honest reviews. If you were reimbursed in some way, then the whole thing would be jacked up and meaningless. We leave reviews and use our TA app sort of like a diary of places we've been, places we've eaten, what we've eaten, etc. And since we road trip so much, our friends are always asking us where to stop and eat song the way. It's a fantastic resource.

But if I could make a suggestion. It'd be nice if it was easier to add places from the iPhone app. Sometimes, we roll into a one-horse town and TA says there's nothing to do and no place to eat, and we stumble upon someplace fabulous, and we can't sing their praises from the rooftops!!!! It would be so great if adding someplace would be easy like that. Especially for places that aren't privately owned, like parks and historical sites.

I use it so much that I could just sit down with y'all and we could talk for hours about what a family who travels the roads less traveled would like to see. But, so far, you're doing well.
