Poor search/usage options
I'm glad this was free so at least I didn't waste money on it... In order to find anything you first have to put in a route; you can't just quickly search near you. And you can't customize the route - so for example, in testing this app, I was offered two routes for a particular trip I've made before. Neither was the route that I would normally take, and neither are even necessarily accessible in the winter if there is weather in the mountains. Granted this is a sample size of one, but at least for that trip the app would be totally useless.
Furthermore, I often travel with horses, and hauling a trailer I need to know where there are truck stops (not just tiny gas stations) and upcoming rest areas (planning ahead is key). When I put in a route I know to have many truck stops along it and searched "truck stop," I got exactly zero results that were actual truck stops - instead I got a bunch of truck dealerships (because that's totally what I need when I'm traveling). Putting in "rest area" did at least get me some actual rest areas, but it also got me every other business with "rest" in the name.
I'm giving it two stars because the information given does seem accurate; it's organization is just lousy.
A great addition to any traveler's app toolkit
This is a great app for answering that age old road trip dilemma, "I need to get gas in the next 30 minutes, and I don't want to go too far off my route." Most map searches just go in all directions, making me have to check the results to make sure I'm not back-tracking or going miles off course.
I've used it a couple times already and it's been helpful finding places to stop. It is useful on a long trip I take regularly, and it should be even more helpful when I'm traveling for work.
It displays the google ratings for locations, but I'd love to see more integration with Yelp ratings.
Very cool and very helpful
The first road trip app to get!
This is a very cool app for road tripping. It uses a Google Maps to find where you are and get you directions. Once you are on the road, you can search for things like restaraunts, Starbucks, and camps sites based on a time or distance window from where you are now. It's perfect in that regards.
It's missing a few things. Like it doesn't remember your route so you have to input it every other time or so.
Another thing is it doesn't offer categories to search by, but you can make your own search so that's bit a bug deal. Lastly, you can't plan your whole trip with this. It won't let you search for something more than 2 hours away so it is only useful for current needs, not your whole trip.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
