Truck Stops was created, developed, and programmed by a professional truck driver. Additionally, the truck stops app has been available since July, 2009. It was the very first app to list information about truckstops. The developer is devoted entirely to the Truckster app. In fact, every effort is being made to include everything possibly needed by the trucking industry within this application. In addition to the trucking industry, much of the information within the app is extremely useful for RV owners. There are a combined 50,000 active users using this application on Iphone and other mobile platforms, making it the biggest source of truckstop data for mobile applications.

The iphone version of this application won an app development contest in May, 2010. Wiley Publishing Co. (publishers of the "for dummies" series of books) conducted a design contest and selected Truck Stops as the best app within the contest.

Additionally, the features allow drivers to communicate with each other by allowing them to post notes about each stop, by listing items which are nearby the stops, or by posting messages on the messageboard.

What's New in Version 6.3
Great app (previous title)
(For the whiners out there....stifle it. Good grief. I bought the earlier version for 3.99 and with the upgrades, guess what? I still have the same features I paid for. The developer added some new features. Some are free, like the CAT scale locator. Great addtion. Some aren't free, But guess what? I don't need the other features, so I won't pay for them. Simple as that. I am guessing that the whiners don't give up detention pay or layover pay, and pay for their own lumpers, too. (NOT) So, if you're tired of thumbing through truck stop directories, or looking at your atlas for a rest area, this app is great. Well worth the price.) previous review.
Not any more. Developer quit updating in 2011, and isn't even integrated with Apple Maps. I still use it, but I won't recommend it unless it gets an update. It seems, though, that the developer took the money and ran.
This app is amazing. I truly use it ALL the time, as an over the road driver, to find fuel stops, restaurants at the truck stops, even to check how many parking spaces and service bays they have. About my only complaint is that it does crash once in a while (not as much as it used to). I have downloaded about 5 truckstop apps and this is by far the most comprehensive. It would also be better if it found truck stops in the direction you were traveling and customized, rather than a fixed, radius search
Missing & out of date!
Many truck stops are not listed. Also relying on truck drivers to send in information, as if they have time for every stop to keep it updated.
A number of the rest areas don't have accurate information and some of the rest areas are also missing.
App crashes numerous times.
Other than what is mentioned above it is a nice app, I have used it on numerous occasions and the layout and format of the app is easy to use.
Besides being updated and adding truck stops and rest areas it would be great to add low clearance locations routing and weigh stations with suggested routing.
