TruxMap Lite Food Truck Map

Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
TruxMap is a live gourmet food trucks map for 34 US cities and 2 Canadian cities. The minute a food truck makes their current or future whereabouts known, you will see them on the TruxMap app. Menus, reviews, food images, location requests and directions are just one touch away. The open food trucks are visually represented by green markers and the food trucks opening soon are represented by blue markers.
Quickly scan what food trucks are near you, browse through the menus and food images before making a decision. Once you've completed eaten the food, submit a review or your truck images so others can know what to expect.
TruxMap is available for Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Calgary, Charleston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbia, Dallas, Denver, District of Columbia, Honolulu, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Louisville, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis-St Paul, Nashville, New Orleans, New York City, Orlando, Portland, Phoenix, Raleigh-Durham, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, St Louis, San Antonio, Santa Barbara, Seattle, and Vancouver.
What's New in Version 4.2
Support added for 15 new cities. UI redesign. Various bug fixes.
Very poorly done. It needs a lot of work. It seems like someone slapped together an app in a hurry without much though.
Th screen looks very crowed so I always switch to map view. When you visit the trucks web page you can't zoom in and out, and while there, you can't find your way back to the map view because the "back" button at the top left hand corner is missing. I had to completely close the app and reopen it to get out of it. Until I found out by accident that I could go back by tapping on the upper left hand corner. I wish I could change the day of the week to see what's coming tomorrow or any other day of the week and set up customizable reminders. Or the ability to track a truck or to set up a perimeter in miles that let you know when a specific truck is in your area. It seems that it only shows today's truck locations unless you visit the truck's website and they display their schedule and locations. Oh yeah, and let people get rid of the dumb ads.
There is more but I won't bother with it.
Decent app but still needs work
It needs is to support landscape, not just portrait mode. Haven't found other truck apps for the iphone/ipad yet to compare. I've noticed trucks have tweeted locations that do not appear in the app and especially "future" openings.
Locally this app is not very helpful as few trucks get their twitter account parsed correctly and locations mapped accordingly. Shame because this app would be very useful but appears to require truck owners make updated and I don't think most of them are set up to do so.
I was hoping for great things with this app, and fortunately it didn't disappoint. I use it to find food trucks close to me & it tends to be accurate more often than not. The only thing I could hope for is more pictures & info on menus for each truck, but that is probably up to the trucks to provide it. If you chase the trucks, this app is good to have!
