Great app but needs a few tweaks
I used this app last year to get back into shape after having taken a couple months off after wildfire season. I really liked this app overall. It's not really designed for folks that aren't already in reasonable shape, or used to working out 5 days a week so be aware.
The strengths of the app are the video demos, the tips/tricks section, Trish's positive teaching style, and the challenge section. I especially liked the weekly challenges where you can track your progress and see yourself improve. In using this app I lost the 12 pounds I had gained.
The things that need fixed would be the schedule feature....but if I really cared I could google it. The biggest issue is that the intro/outro music sequence to the exercise demo videos are maddening after just a couple times. If I could change anything that would be it. Also it would be really nice to be able to pick your own exercises for the Friday challenge day in order to customize for your workout desires.
Other than that I really liked this app and I'm about to use it for another twelve weeks to get back in shape for next season. Thanks Trish, solid app.
Not bad but expected more for 2.99
So this app has good tips and the exercise videos are nice. But I guess I expected specific exercises with maybe a timer for each exercise to be included for each day rather than just a suggestion as to what types of exercises to do for each workout. for a beginner, i guess i am just being spoiled expecting more from a paid app these days. a drop down for each workout per exercise (cardio, abs, etc) with a timer and link to the video for each exercise chosen would make it perfect. at least the test day has a timer but the challenge and test days seem quite strenuous for someone just starting out.
Its OK with some problems
There are audio problems on the video. They say to contact Trish direct for a solution. Ok fair enough, why not just fix it?
The app itself is pretty good but there is nothing new here. If you are already in decent shape and you were just looking for something to mix it up a little, you will be disappointed. If you are new to working out and training, the pace may start off a little too aggressively and discourage you from continuing.
The videos are good quality but they need to lose the branding on each and every video. It's annoying. A 20 second video is 10 seconds of instruction and 5 seconds of "fade in logo", 5 seconds "fade out logo"
The event map is a good idea, but seriously out of date. No events posted for 2013. It's not a critical part of the app, but either keep it up to date or get rid of it completely. Instead of a map, how about links to main mud run organization websites with a brief description of what each one specializes in? You won't need to update as much.
