Tumblr is a place to discover and post about stuff you love, and join communities of people who love that same stuff. It’s pretty neat.

Q: What can I post on Tumblr?
A: Photos, videos, live videos, songs, text—pretty much anything.

Q: Can I make gifs?
A: Yes, you CAN make gifs! You can make them out of videos, bursts, live photos, or just shoot them on the spot.

Q: What’s the deal with “reblogging”?
A: It’s a way to take the stuff you find on Tumblr and make it your own. You can repost other people’s posts to your own blog. You can add commentary if you like. Other people can do the same with your posts. That’s how ideas spread on Tumblr, and it’s how communities form around them.

Q: Who’s on Tumblr?
A: People who are posting and reblogging about interesting stuff that you’re interested in. Politics. Movies. Memes and such. If you’ve ever seen anything interesting on the internet, chances are it came from Tumblr.

Q: How do I talk to people on Tumblr?
A: A few different ways. You can comment on a post, or you can reblog a post to your own Tumblr and add commentary, or you can send a private message. Whatever suits the occasion.

Q: How do I find stuff to follow?
A: Search for whatever you’re interested in. We’ll show you great posts about that stuff, and get you following the people who make those posts. Oh, you can also follow a search itself, and we’ll put sift the best material from that search right into your dashboard.

Q: What kind of stuff are people talking about on Tumblr *right now*?
A: Whatever’s happening in the world. The real world, the world of fiction, the world of pop culture, the world of academics, the world of safety and justice, the world of sports. Whatever world you live in, you’ll find it among all the trending topics in the search tab.

Q: Do all Tumblrs look the same?
A: No! You can totally customize your Tumblr’s appearance, right down to the colors and fonts you use.

Q: How will people find my Tumblr?
A: Tag your posts. Tumblr is full of passionate communities of people who are constantly searching through tags for new posts about stuff they love. Your stuff could be that stuff.

Q: Am I ready to download Tumblr, deepen my perspective, and forever change the way I think?
A: Yes.

a few suggestions, but over all great

I feel like this would be much better for the users who like to use this as a blog to be able to have tabs, or pages if you will, all on one blog that other users can click on to view other parts of the blog. so they could section certain things into certain groups so they are better accessible to people who would just like to see that aspect of their blog. also i feel like we should be able to link our accounts and take files from the mobile version of office applications - Such as word, power point, and etc - and put them on our page as selections. such as if one is writing a novel, now they have it in page form instead of the standard paragraph form we write in now. and we will be able to update the book in chapters on these apps, but also keep the tumblr experience alive. so now we will have books, articles, and such compacted together that can be selected all together. also a search tab, so we and others who view our blog can search for certain office projects we have linked on our pages. i feel over all these will make a big impact on the tumblr experience and make it easier to have organized, captivating blogs

Updates for the sake of updates

I don't mind updates that improve the UX or slightly change the UI to be cleaner but updating the app with things that don't add anything to improve the experience is insulting. I was hoping this update would fix previous issues and it hasn't. I'll give the developers an engineering hint: customer surveys. They are immensely useful for finding out what needs to be in a product when it comes to market. It also would really help you improve your app. Put a survey in the app and I swear it would help you out a lot. The things that still need to be improved: you changed the way UI displays the user following section. Not only is at least 2 more clicks. But it also is not alphabetical. Don't pull an Apple and remove a feature and then be so elitist to tout it as a special feature addition in a new update. You know you messed up. Fix it. Also, the video player needs to be fixed. Crashing while going to horizontal mode, the video freezing, and overall lag should not be happening in a modern app. My suggestion is to reconsider the way the app stores the video files and either deletes the video cache as it fills or use a different approach all together. Again this has been long stated as a problem and should be on a poster board in your offices as priority number one. If it isn't than your goals are misguided.

What is your end goal, here?

I'm extremely confused as to what you are trying to achieve with this app. It seems to me that the most important task for you is simply moving things around, hanging things that don't need to be changed, and ultimately adding nothing useful to the app whilst making it less user-friendly.

Look, we don't ask for a lot. Fix the bugged features. After you do that, you can move onto your text goal, which I would say is adding features the tumblr community has been asking for since its inception (ability to search likes perhaps?). Regardless of what new feature your team decides to hurtle themselves towards, let me assure that it will almost certainly be more useful than moving the blog pages, and making that little button in the bottom-right go straight to whichever last blog of yours you had open.

You've been doing this for years. Unnecessarily changing random things that add nothing to the experience, and simply add to the annoy everyone outside your internal "creative" team. Try using a poll if you are at such a loss for what your users want.
