The best BPM tapper for the Mac.
Work your way through your entire iTunes music library with astonishing speed, or tap out songs as they come up with minimal disruption to your workflow.
Let Turnover help generate playlists in specific BPM ranges for fixed-tempo workouts, including 180 steps-per-minute playlists for efficient running.
FAST AND EFFICIENT
- Full-featured iTunes controller.
- Work through playlists without ever switching to iTunes.
- Tap, save, jump well into the next track, and keep on tapping. It's that simple.
Turnover allows you to tap out the BPM for entire playlists with nothing more than continuous taps of the Return key. And rather than having to wait for each new track to get going, Turnover can automatically jump ahead so you can continue tapping without interruption.
TAP AS NEEDED
- Supports notifications when the currently playing song has a missing or unconfirmed BPM.
- Global hotkey to activate Turnover.
Once notified, hit your global hotkey, tap out the BPM, and let Turnover bring you right back whence you came. A few brief taps and you'll be right back at the task at hand.
- Optionally ignore BPM values guesstimated by beat analysis software.
- Rules to manage playlists.
- Various notification mechanisms, including Growl.
- Customizable keyboard shortcuts for mouse-free operation.
- Immediate detection of tapping errors, never a need to wait or "reset" tapping.
- Built-in metronome, allowing for the fine adjustment of BPM playback
- Several musical instrument “tap” sounds to choose from.
TURNOVER… UH, WHAT'S THAT?
An avid runner, the author of this software needed a tool to help build playlists in the 180 BPM range, a cadence, or rate of turnover, deemed most efficient for running. With thousands of songs to contend with, and existing BPM tappers not quite up to the challenge, this project was born. So if you're looking to "improve your turnover", this is the perfect tool to help you build the necessary playlists.
- Support for adjusting ratings by dragging
- Improved support for Retina displays
- Fixed several UI glitches
- Removed Growl support
- Fixed incompatibility with certain iTunes versions

A Fine App
This works well for my use. I’ve found bmp finders in the past that calculate automatically and are just way too inaccurate so i prefer something i can tap out myself. I was annoyed with the sounds that this makes when you tap, until i realized that i could change the sounds (i just went to silent).
I love this app & would give it more stars if I could.
I've long worked out to music, but without giving a lot of thought to BPM. A few months ago I realized that synching my workout to a certain BPM to keep on pace - or using a BPM-organized playlist to help increase my speed - would get more results. I spent far too many hours using various websites to find the BPM of certain songs. Then I found Turnover. Hooray! I can set the BPM for all my music, sort, arrange, and make playlists for whatever my goals are.
Turnover is incredibly easy to use. I love the notification function if a song comes on that you haven't yet set; and I love being able to use shortcuts to pull up the app, set the BPM, and automatically return to what I'd been doing. I love being able to zoom through my library with the next-song-20-seconds-in function. It is exactly what I was looking for, and more. You can use it to get BPM rates when previewing songs in the iTunes store, or when iTunes isn't running and you want to get the rate for songs on the radio, etc.
To say this helped me revolutionize my workouts is not an overstatement. What a time saver!
I too am a runner, and was looking for a program to automate the entry of BPM in formation into iTunes in order to create playlists to suit various workouts. While Turnover does not compute a BPM number, it does exactly as advertised. The program makes it very easy to 'tap-out' the BPM of songs in iTunes library (not limited to mp3 like some other programs) and have this BPM updated into the song file. The program has lots of helpfult UI features to allow you to get through a large number of songs in a reasonable amount of time (I've got over 2000 songs in my library, so the initial task of tapping-out these songs is taking a bit of time).
The program has done everything advertised, and has not crashed once! Well worth the small feee I paid for the app. Keep up the good work!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
