What's New in Version 1.4
- bug fixes
Pretty but clunky
While the app looks great and sounds effects are cool, I'm disappointed by how it handles playback of complete albums. Firstly, adding them is a bit tedious. The Queue & Shuffle buttons are dark on a dark background and it took me quite a while to even find them. Secondly, it treats each song as a new record when playing back. LP records were meant to be played in continuity (by side anyway). Oh and that reminds me, I don't like the album-artwork-as-label thing; I'd prefer a side A/side B, maybe with artist, album name, and track names?
The other thing that prevents me from using this app is the sound quality. I've noticed that the music sounds kind of muffled and contains compression artifacts, when compared to music played in Apple's Music app. My music is all Apple Lossless or iTunes Plus, which leads me to believe that this app is converting the music files down to a lower bit rate, or utilizing some kind of internal streaming server which is lowering the bit rate. Whatever it is, it's annoying.
Fix the sound quality, plus two stars. Fix the each-song-is-a-record, plus one star. Fix the album-artwork-as-label, plus one star.
Great idea, could use improvement
I really like the idea of this app and from a visual standpoint it is gorgeous. Takes me back to my radio and dj days. However there are some issues that keep me from really using the app on a daily basis.
The performance for search on large music libraries is very slow. I find myself sticking to scroll to make it work which is less than ideal. Especially since the alphabetical index isn't used on the list.
The app will show all the music in your music app but won't play music from the cloud unless it's downloaded. It would be good if I could hide the cloud music without having to go to settings and hiding it in the music app. Also would be good to kick off a download but I'm not sure if the music API supports that.
Playing music is clunky. I'd like to be able to just hit play and have the queue play. Right now you have to open an album and play a track. And let it go. I'd rather just hit play and have it go.
Minor nit, it plays a track, switches the record, plays a track. I'd prefer it to group album songs on a single platter.
Some bugs are here
This is a good turntable style music player, but the song choose button doesn't work sometimes, and there is no instructions.
