what were they thinking?

The website is really nice. You can save links to Pocket directly from tweets without ever having to leave where you are. The app doesn’t support that feature, which is disappointing. And for some reason they thought it would be a good idea to also block copying and pasting links. Why would you do something like that?

It isn’t a full screen app, so obviously you immediately think this is meant to be dropped into a “desktop" with another app, to take advantage of OS’s new split screen manaagment features, but also for some ridiculous reason, they thought it would be a good idea to block this as well, so that you get to have a big empty desktop with this little column in the corner for twitter. Why would you do that?

Maybe a feature for the next update could be showing people’s usernames and that they tweeted something, but never loading the actual tweet, so that you get to not be able to see tweets. Or maybe the other way around and just show the tweets, so that you get to not know who said it.

A step back with this “upgrade"

I was actually really happy with the prior version of the twitter client. My main gripe was the lack of video playback. For some reason Twitter decided to not only add those missing elements but change a lot of the interface. Now its slow and clunky, I can’t copy usernames from their profile page, I get odd notifications and the colors stink. If I could downgrade to the prior version I would as the video playback is not worth all that was lost.

I found an older version that hadnt updated on one of my other computers. I saved it aside and copied it back to my other machines so im back to running 3.1.2. The trick to not have it constantly update on you is to put the old version somewhere else (outside of Applications, like your user home folder). Then run the old one and pin it in your dock etc. The new one will keep updating and being crappy and you can ignore it.

Please Figure it out (auto scroll)

Looking at the other comments I seem to have lucked out seeing as how the client does not crash, however the auto scroll still fails to function properly. It will auto scroll for maybe one or two tweets and then stop. I submitted a bug report for the previous version before the update and was excited to see the “bug fixes” update the other day but after the install it still does not work properly. Looking for a third party alternative now, I used to use tweet deck but then twitter pulled the api for some reason and I havent really followed up on it, now it seems I will be forced too.
UPDATE: I switched to Janetter app, its awesome never looking back.
