I love this game. More than any other phone game, easily. I’ve been playing since close to the beginning if I’m not mistaken. Yes, sometimes it can be frustrating and I will wish the game would play a little nicer, but it wouldn’t be all that fun if that was the case. Even hundreds of levels in, there are easier levels that are just plain fun. The look and sounds are pleasing as well. My only complaint is that sometimes they will choose dot colors that are very similar which can make playing in low light frustrating.
I do sometimes watch commercials for extra plays, but I don’t find it necessary to pay anything. The ads are by choice and unobtrusive and this is truly one of the best things about it. Can an iOS game be classy? If so, that’s what I would call Two Dots.
So it's a really fun and relaxing game but I want to talk about the things they can improve on. First of all, I love the expeditions. They're my favorite thing to do but I don't get notifications whenever they start even with my notifications are on. I hate coming into the game and it tells me there's an expedition but then when I go to it, it's already over. That's the only side quest type thing that gives you useful power-ups. It's a real tease. Another thing is I don't really care for treasure hunts because you don't get anything out of it besides a badge that you can't do anything with. This game is borderline pay-to-win which disappoints me but I really love this game. Developers need to give more incentives to play treasure hunts and long distant goals. For example, if you get this amount of badges than you win a prize.
This is an elegantly simple game that can get very complicated. It’s fun & satisfying often, but some levels can’t be negotiated without help, such as “booster boxes” or extra lives, which cost a dollar. One frustrating thing is that if you spend a dollar for 5 extra lives and only need one to complete level, the other four lives are taken away from you. It also used to be that you could watch ads to open an extra daily door or to obtain a booster box, but that feature was has been taken away. Personally, money not being an issue for me, I could afford to play this game & advance by constantly coughing up 1 buck, but I resent being manipulated this way and have decided not to play anymore. In retrospect, I would recommend not to start playing this game.
