Best Time Keeping App I’ve Found

Mtthw Bckmn

I’ve looked high and low for time keeping apps; Everything from simple timers, to automatic apps that watch what apps you’re working on. Tyme has proven to be the best tool I’ve found for keeping track of time. I’ve got the app on my phone, watch, and two macs, so iCloud syncing is awesome. That’s also one of the biggest problems with Tyme, iCloud syncing. It works, but it can be slow at times. There have been updates that have made it better, but it’s still one of my only small complaints about this app. Other than that, this app is critical to my workflow.

Great App with some annoyance on iOS

I use Tyme on on all of my devices and have been using it since the first version. It is my favorite time tracker. That being said, please at least allow the option to input times with the onscreen keyboard on iOS. The scroll wheel looks nice but it's a very inefficient way to input times manually. Alternatively, simplifying the scroll wheel to 12 rather than 24 hours and adding an AM/PM toggle would make it much easier to input times retroactively without having to scroll through all 24 hours.

Another suggestion to make the scrolling more efficient is to have the scroll wheel reflect your task's setting for rounding your minutes. Let's say that I set a task to round to 10 minute increments, it would be nice if when I scroll to select my time the scroll wheel only showed the five available choices of 10,20,30,40, and 50 for that task because it was reflecting my choice for rounding when I created that task.

I love this app and use it daily but I find myself going to the desktop to input multiple times that weren't automated with a timer. It's so much faster than trying to put them in on iOS. I feel like a few minor improvements to the iOS version could make that unnecessary. Other than that, this app is a steal for the price-- on all platforms.

Very, Very Good Time Tracking App

The Builder....

If you are looking to track your personal time of what you do, whether personally or with work-related activities, this app is the one to get! I've been using this app for just over a year now, and I must say that it has been very, very helpful in tracking time of projects and tasks.

The "key" to using it is by first a) looking at your life and dividing it into a series of categories. Then, you b) break those categories into a series of projects you'd like to cover (ex: Client A, Client B, etc.). Then, you c) break those down by tasks you would like to accomplish, and once you've established those 3 things, Tyme 2 will definitely come in handy for tracking your life!

The latest update brought forth much quicker syncing on the iOS and Mac platforms, which makes the app even more useful. The only "ought" I have against it thus far is when using it on Apple Watch, there is no way to manually sync the tasks, and the only use for it on the Watch is on "recent" (not new) tasks. Other than that, this has been my app of choice for time tracking, even more so than Billings Pro (which you have to manually sync the tasks to the app). All in all, a great app!
