From the creator of SpellTower, comes a new and completely original word game!
Anagrams meets Word Search, with a sprinkle of Crosswords.
Typeshift is the modern anagram puzzle; re-imagined from the ground up, combining wordplay, modern game design, and a mobile-first approach.
In most anagram games, you search for new combinations within a single word, but in Typeshift, you search within three to five words stacked & scrambled up together.
Shift columns of letters up and down as you try to spell words in the center row. Play continues until you have used all letters in a puzzle at least once.
Special Clue Puzzles combine Crosswords with Anagrams as you match clever clues provided by Typeshift's various puzzle authors.

------A WORD FROM THE DEVELOPER
Typeshift continues my quest to re-imagine classic newspaper games in the digital era.
Where SpellTower tackled word search and Really Bad Chess handled chess puzzles, Typeshift re-examines Anagrams and Crosswords.
Typeshift has been a joy to develop, and I hope you have as much fun playing it as I had making it.
As always, thanks so much for your support!
What's New in Version 1.1.2
Typeshift June Update
From here on out I'll be updating Typeshift each month with new puzzles to keep your fingers & brains satisfied!
This month's update contains:
- 2 clue puzzle packs
- 1 standard puzzle pack bundle
- 1 free booster pack
- 1 feature change (see below)
I've received many requests regarding using hints on daily puzzles.
You can now use hints on dailies, with the caveat that if you do, your score won't be submitted to the leaderboards.
As always, if you like Typeshift please rate it, Apple removes old reviews after every update.
Thanks so much for your support!
1.1.2 - small fix to slowdown/CPU overheat for affected users
Developer doesn't answer support emails
Edit: Why I removed four stars. I've sent them two different questions via the in-game support link --but they haven't replied. That's just rude. Why have a link for support if it goes into a black hole? I've been buying their extra puzzles, but if they can't bother to reply to an email, I'm done giving them my money. I'm also done recommending their game. … Given one of my statements below, the irony is not lost on me ;-)
Original review follows.
Negative reviewers are boorish cheapskates
The core game is pretty good, not great, where this game shines is the "clue puzzles"-combining the core game with crossword clues.
One reviewer agreed with me, yet gave the game only two stars because s/he was unwilling to pay $1.99 for two hours of fun, because that's a bad deal, apparently. (My phone is only worth $.10 per hour!) ??
I was more than happy to spend an additional two bucks for another two hours of this great game, and I will soon be spending another two dollars. … What the hell is wrong with people? The freemium game economy has turned most of us into sniveling, entitled complainers.
My biggest complaint (About this game) is that there are not enough clue puzzles. I contacted the publisher today and asked them how I might go about making and submitting some of my own.
Used to be great, but...
After playing this game off and on for a few months I have realized that, for what it is, it's not worth making an in-app purchase to remove these newly added advertisements that detract from the overall experience of playing the game and make me want to uninstall the app every time I open it. Would only recommend if you turn off your data and wifi to stop these annoying ads from popping up after every single completed puzzle, which is not worth the inconvenience and I would strongly suggest finding a similar word-based game, (there are tons on the App Store), and play that instead. Would give it zero stars if the rating system allowed.
Better than before but still not good
The game seemed promising when I first got it, but in earlier updates some levels wouldn't finish (e.g. Peach 1). So like any logical human being would do, I deleted it. When I got it back that specific glitch was fixed. But the game still has some stupid words in it (e.g. Milos what the heck are those) and the game's excess words are some of the least helpful parts of the game. Plus the ads are way to common when you finish a level. If you really want a good word game, than you should buy word cookies. Edit: apparently milos is an island in the Aegean Sea, why would I know that
