Great game; UI needs work
I spent ages playing this on the web and was excited to see an iPhone version come out, but this app really doesn't lend itself to the kind of enjoyably mindless progression from letter to letter that the website offers. The interstitial "correct"/"wrong" screens are distracting and break up the flow; I don't know if their presence is required to hide the delay of loading the next letter or what, but I'd rather just see a spinner on the letter and have a "correct"/"wrong" bar drop down from the title area.
I'll still be playing this, as the mechanic's just as addicting as ever, but I'd hesitate to recommend it to a friend until the UI's a little less bothersome.
Typeface nerds rejoice.
This game is addictive, they're right. I'm not even a typeface nerd. I like Comic Sans!
That said, Typewar is a great way to kill time. The game play is easy, scoring is clear, you see how you stack up to the crowd immediately, it's great fun.
This is one of those casual gaming apps that makes the iPhone awesome. Few minutes while you wait for an app to compile, load Typewar. Waiting in line at the bank, load Typewar... you see where I'm going with this.
Worth every penny!
Great way to pass the time...
This is a great way to pass those little moments of time you'd normally spend gazing lazily out the window. Because it picks up right where you left off when you relaunch it, it's easy to get back into the groove of playing. The best endorsement I can give for this (or any) game is that its about evenly split with Bejeweled 2 in playtime on my iPhone.
