Customer Reviews

U-verse constantly seems like it's a beta test...

I've been. U-verse subscriber since it was made available in my area. At first, it could only be described as mostly terrible but it was so bad that I assumed that they simply released it before it was ready so that they could use the early joiners as beta testers. It is a fairly challenging concept I think, since so many neighborhoods are serviced by internet speeds that can be easily bogged down when all the kids fire up their cell phones and laptops at once, which is pretty much standard practice.

But, while there have been advances, our neighborhood is still plagued with frame locks, complete stoppages of the entire internet and other irritating stuff fat too often than it should. And I'm being generous. If it were up to my wife (which ultimately it might be), we would probably be getting our wired TV service in another way by now. AT&T's own Direct TV is constantly trying to get me to switch. It makes me wonder if AT&T might want everyone to drop, out so that they can save face and simply give up on U-verse.

Don't do that.

Cable Cutter Un-done

I had gone for over two years without any television provider. I was what they call a "cable cutter." I used only Apple TV and Roku. Then, by chance, I got a special offer to try U-Verse. WOW! It changed everything. Now I have a package that includes broadband internet, all the HD cable I could want, a home phone line which I use to fax, and a U-Verse App that lets me watch TV whenever I want, where ever I want. The range of content is amazing. I am very picky and I don't want to be tied to a television for the length of a show. With U-Verse I just pause what I am watching, take a phone call from my kids, and resume watching when I want. I love it!

Still buggy after all these years

I've enjoyed scheduling recordings when away from home and third reasonably useful interface for that. Takes too long to navigate and load new channel or time blocks when data connection is less than ideal, however.
Main gripe is unpredictable search behavior. For example, watched Come Hell or High Water (just added) on Demand last night, discovered on Uverse TV search function and wanted to find it again on iPad. Doesn't appear. As if they only update the content when they get around to it.
