Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
The entire United States Code, loaded onto your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad so that you can access all federal statutes without using the internet.
Search, browse, or use legal citations to find the sections you're looking for. Keep bookmarks, scroll through each chapter of the code as if it's a book, and email code sections to yourself or others.
This app is provided as a free service by Shawn Bayern, an assistant professor at the Florida State University College of Law. It's a personal project, not one that represents the university or anyone else.
Of course, it's intended for informational purposes only, and it's not meant to provide legal advice or legal services of any kind. You should always confirm that the information in this application is correct and still current law before relying on it.
I'm always open to comments and happy to improve the application if you have suggestions. I'd consider breaking off individual titles of the code, for example, if there seems to be interest in smaller versions.
PLEASE NOTE: A small number of users have apparently had difficulty installing this application through iTunes. The problem appears to be related to a bug in the Windows version of iTunes. If you install the application directly on your iPhone or iPad (over a wireless connection), that avoids the bug in iTunes. Apple and I are working to resolve the problem. It's not a bug in this application, and the vast majority of users can install and run the application without encountering any problems.
What's New in Version 1.0.1
- Content update
- iPad support
- Minor user-interface enhancements
Great App! Terrible Experience
The application is fabulous. The experience of trying to get it onto my iPod was by far one of the worst experiences of my technological life. The only method I found effective for getting the application to completely and properly install on my iPod was by downloading it directly instead of downloading it with iTunes and then transferring it over.
After the application was on my iPod I discovered that if I tried to transfer it from the iPod to iTunes diverse and very upsetting problems occurred. The only method to fix the matter was to independently download the application onto both the iPod and iTunes on my computer individually. Head my advice if you have problems installing it and save yourself A LOT of frustration! I am running iOS 4.1.
Fix those problems and the app will get 5 stars from me.
Problem with new iPod OS
This app worked great on the Previos iPod OS system. I never had a problem, but since I upgraded to the new OS, I have not been able to load the app on to my iPod. All I get is an error message that it can't be loaded because the resourese have been changed and the steps on the iTunes help page won't fix the problem.
The app has a huge amount of information in it so it will take a little time to sync. When it worked it was very useful probably the best law app out there, but if it won't work on the new OS it doesn't matter how much infromtation is in it. Hopefully, the creator can fix it.
If this app will work on your iPod, get it. On the previous OS this app has a five star rating. On the new OS (as of Nov 2010), this app gets a zero.
Will not install on new iPhone 4.0...
I had this application installed on my iPhone 3Gs. It worked quite well; the search feature could be improved however. After purchasing the iPhone 4.0, it will not load now when installing all my applications on the new phone. I get some message about the resources being changed. I even tried deleting the application from my library, redownloading it, and reinstalling. I hate to bash the developer too much because the price is right, but at this point I am unable to install it.
