Uber is a ridesharing app for fast, reliable rides in minutes—day or night. There’s no need to park or wait for a taxi or bus. With Uber, you just tap to request a ride, and it’s easy to pay with credit or cash in select cities.
Whether you’re going to the airport or across town, there’s an Uber for every occasion. Uber is available in more than 500 cities worldwide—download the app and take your first trip today.
Requesting your Uber is easy—here’s how it works:
- Just open the app and tell us where you’re going.
- The app uses your location so your driver knows where to pick you up.
- You’ll see your driver’s picture, vehicle details, and can track their arrival on the map.
- Payment can be made by credit card, cash in select cities, Apple Pay, Android Pay, PayPal, and more.
- After the ride, you can rate your driver and provide feedback to help us improve the Uber experience. You’ll also get a receipt by email.

What's New in Version 3.223.1
Uber relies on location services to ensure safe and accurate rides. In this latest version of the app, you’ll now be asked to allow location information collection from the time you request a ride through up to five minutes after it ends. This helps identify better pickup and dropoff points and helps customer service if you ever need to contact us about a trip. You’ll always be in control over what location information is shared and can adjust this at any time in your device settings.
Watchout potential overcharges!
Uber is overcharging $4-$6 more for trips to airports, because when you search airport in the app the destination is in the middle of runway, effectively making the route several miles longer. I've contacted Uber regarding this but never received any response. And now you are asking to collect location info at background. There's no more option to allow reading location only when the app is running. You told that you need location info within 5 minutes after ride. No, there's no reason I want to share that, and there's no reason I trust you that you only collect what you promised. I have disabled location sharing on this app. Doesn't that make the app practically unusable? Yes. But not that I'm going to care because I'll never use this service again. I just keep this app installed so every time it is updated, I'll come and post a 1-star review.
Wants access to my location at all times, no thanks.
I only had this app on my phone for my husband, since I stopped using Uber after a very uncomfortable & bazaar interaction with a driver. Today he sent me his trip so I can see whether he'll be stuck in traffic, or home any minute. I opened the Uber app and it prompted me to let Uber access my location even when I'm not using the app, so of course I declined. After that it would not allow me to do anything with the app such as track my husbands ride home, unless I change my location settings to always allow them to access my location. I even tried turning it on and it still wouldn't show me my husbands ride. Waste of time and invasion of privacy, I'll stick with Lyft.
Please stop updating
I've had multiple drivers not know how to work the app charging me every time when I wasn't even in the car. The app doesn't give a clear picture of the car coming you pick you up or the driver. It doesn't notify you when your driver is completing a ride nearby instead it makes you think they're going the wrong way taking twice as long to pick you up as you expected. The recent updates are making the app worse. I wish lyft was more available in my area. It seems uber doesn't take the customer into consideration when making changes to the app. It's harder to use than ever.
