First of all, if you haven’t taken a ride yet make sure you use the coupon “nealej1" to get $20 off your first ride!! Enter it right before you request a ride. Go to the Payment tab in the app and enter the coupon under promotions. Might as well try it out since it won't cost you a thing!
The app is simple, easy to use and intuitive by design, giving you important info like the driver’s face, phone number, and car make and model. It’s amazing how quick and seamless the entire process is. A car comes to your door within minutes of pressing a button! The drivers are real people, they are very polite and their cars are clean! Some even come with complimentary water, gum and candy!!! Even if you want to charge your phone, a lot of drivers have phone chargers at your ready!!! UberX is definitely cheaper than your average cab. After all this, I don’t see why you would ever use a yellow cab again.
The customer support is also fantastic. I got overcharged on one of my trips and I didn’t have to say anything more than a comment on my driver feedback to get a full refund. I’m very happy and I hope Uber continues to exceed my expectations in not only the app but customer service!! I also prefer Uber much more than other competitors, mainly because they have so much more supply and cars are always just a few minutes away!!!
Wrongfully charged cleaning fee
Like another reviewer on here, I was wrongfully charged a cleaning fee for damage I did not cause and Uber refused to refund me the extra $40 they took out of my bank account. While I was traveling in New Orleans, one of my drivers claimed that my friend and I damaged the back seat of her car. All she had to do was provide photos of liquid damage on the backseat and say that it was from us. Needless to say, we didn't have any liquids in the car and weren't drunk/sick during the ride. I went back and forth three times with Uber customer service and they refused to explain to me how they verified her claim aside from saying she sent them random photos. They also had the nerve to say that I wasn't being accused and that they were interested in hearing my side of the story...yet they had already charged me for the damage. They basically sent me the same four lines over and over again. If you still decide to take Uber, PLEASE take pictures of the inside of the car before and after you enter it since the burden of proof WILL be on you if your driver is like mine and submits false photos of damage against you. Better yet, don't give them your business because you will NOT get your money back. Also if you are traveling in NOLA, do not ride with a woman named Arnell (aka Nell)! I never had problems with Uber before this incident but I refuse to take the chance of going through this experience again.
Horrible Customer Service
I have been a loyal Uber user for the last 2 years, i'm a traveling student (which means my income in basically nothing). I took an Uber the other day: Normal ride, no issues, quiet driver. 3 days later I received a notice that I would be charged an extra $80 for a mess that occurred in the back seat during my trip. I reached out to Uber through the app (because unlike LYFT they do not have a customer service number) and tried to explain the situation: like always I was in the front seat as a personal preference, and that mess could not have been caused by me.
I received emails from Uber saying they acknowledge my message but the situation had been "investigated" and they would not refund the amount. I tried for a day responding with emails back and forth trying to get my refund until Uber decided to stop responding. I will no longer be using Uber and I implore you if you're reading this to not waste your time and money. Lyft is just as effective and I have been happy with their service to date. Also they have a customer service phone number, so you can actually talk to someone about any issues! DELETE UBER, DOWNLOAD LYFT!
