Uber is a ridesharing app for fast, reliable rides in minutes—day or night. There’s no need to park or wait for a taxi or bus. With Uber, you just tap to request a ride, and it’s easy to pay with credit or cash in select cities.
Whether you’re going to the airport or across town, there’s an Uber for every occasion. Uber is available in more than 500 cities worldwide—download the app and take your first trip today.
Requesting your Uber is easy—here’s how it works:
- Just open the app and tell us where you’re going.
- The app uses your location so your driver knows where to pick you up.
- You’ll see your driver’s picture, vehicle details, and can track their arrival on the map.
- Payment can be made by credit card, cash in select cities, Apple Pay, PayPal, and more.
- After the ride, you can rate your driver and provide feedback to help us improve the Uber experience. You’ll also get a receipt by email.

These customers don't seem to understand that they aren't being charged for whatever distance they end up not traveling.
Like any taxi, the distance is metered. I dropped someone off 3 miles earlier than anticipated because she had entered the wrong address by mistake. She wasn't charged for the additional 3 miles. Also, we aren't paid for the time it takes us to get to you. Please stop being so ridiculous. While I can agree that Uber takes a larger chunk out of the service rate than I would like, no one is hiring full-time staff in my area due to the minimum wage increase & I have bills to pay, rent to pay, & food to buy. I've only been with Uber for a month as a driver & I've never had any problems as a customer. Drivers are individuals- not the whole company. If a driver did you dirty, you complain to corporate! If a driver attacked you, you complain to corporate! Before you are even picked up by your driver, you can see the license plate on the vehicle.
Direct your complaints to the right people instead of the app. The app developers have nothing to do with how your experience with any particular driver went!
Not good business to offer customer something and not deliver
Dear Uber, it is not a good business model or customer service to offer a customer an item or a service and NOT deliver. On July 28, 2017, I received an email saying ride passes are coming to Houston at the rate of $6.49 and advising me to look for an email to purchase my pass on Monday July 31, 2017. Monday came and went and I never received an email to purchase a pass. A couple days later I sent a text to uber customer service to see what happened with the promised email to purchase a pass. I received a response saying that my inquiry was being forwarded to the Houston operations office. Waited a couple of days and did not hear anything so I sent a follow up request. I received a response stating that the ride passes are in the "test" phase and basically I wasn't selected to purchase a pass. To me that did not make sense because the original email said I would receive an email to purchase a pass on July 31, 2017. I was using uber everyday to ride to work and used UberEATS one time per week. Well now I'm
using Lyft who just returned to Houston and have offered me a pass two times in the last two months at the rate of $5.49. Uber you lost a VIP customer with a 4.90 rider rating. Not a good business practice or customer service. Thanks for your time.
Uber, Where Was My Car?
I scheduled a ride in advance for my father to go to the airport for 5:30 A.M. - this was a business trip so arriving was paramount. I thought everything was great and received a confirmation e-mail and everything was settled. With my being unable to drive and my mother currently taking medical treatments you can see why promptness was important. Forget promptness - while standing on the curb with my father waiting for the car 15 MINUTES past the scheduled arrival time I received a text from Uber saying there were no drivers available in my area. The stress this placed on us trying to get my father to the airport in Houston was not
TERRIBLE. My mother who has not felt good for months and unable to drive was compelled to try. She was able to drive but a less stressful way to find out would have been great. But had my father been on his own his business trip would have been totally messed up. My previous experiences with Uber would have let me recommend them. After the mad scramble of this morning I don't know that I will ever want to ever use Uber again. You may be left standing in front of your house in the early, dark morning getting a message way past the point of helpfulness. Not a fan of Uber. And I can't even complain or leave a bad review directly to Uber because he never got a ride.
