Ratings and Reviews
So Behind the Times
Horrible UI. You have to scroll horizontally on the holdings page, even on a landscape orientation, to view basic position information. Realized gains & losses are nowhere to be found. App crashes regularly & sometimes won’t even load; just a blank white screen. The bill pay vendor database is scant, requiring the entry of payee addresses even for major vendors like Chase. They literally mail checks to your payees instead of electronically transferring funds like most 21st century banks. Mobile deposit UX and their deposit limit is weak. No peer to peer payment functionality unless you add people as bill pay payees for them to receive checks in the mail. Who the F still does that?! Oh, and you guessed it, outsourced customer service with the thickest of accents. Heard from long time employees that the management team is very much in denial about all of their tech. They swear it’s user error and not the tech. They swear they’ve spent hundreds of millions of dollars on their tech but their mobile app and even the web app they use internally look and function like they were made in the 80’s. They should be embarrassed. Stock price says it all.
1. I need to see my UBS Credit cards that do NOT show up in the app. I need an easy way to check this instead of signing in through the web page.
2. I need to be able to select the priority of accounts I want to see. For example, I want to see my own accounts first, NOT my sister’s trust account (where I am trustee) or the CLOSED trust/estate accounts for my deceased parents where I was also trustee/executor. My accounts currently show up LAST.
3.UBS needs to improve secure upload functions for use with the app so that financial advisors and clients can have a place to send each other secure documents. It still works only one way on the antiquated online accounts. It should be a two way system, both online and through the app. For example, I should be able to take a picture of a signed document and upload it to send to my broker through the app.
4. UBS needs to provide a quick easy to input way of making ETF transfers to others or use quick transfer functions like Zelle, instead of requiring bureaucratic form completion that must be transmitted by hard to find functioning fax machines or by snail mail. Time to move into the 21st century. I was unable to deposit a payment to my UBS account that was sent to me by someone through Zelle as I do not use debit cards.
Needs a Redesign Badly
This app is preposterously clunky. It honestly looks like it hasn’t had a substantial redesign since the early days of iPhones. When I first downloaded it a month or so ago (I’m relatively new to UBS) it flashed a “now supporting Touch ID” message - this has been on iPhones since 2013 so welcome to the 2010’s I guess... I’ve tried several times to enable Face ID on my X and the app simply will not support it and it crashes and requires deletion/re-download every time.
The interface also needs serious improvement. Seeing ones holdings is extremely difficult since the security name takes up nearly half the screen and that leaves little room for seeing the rest of the items you need to see.
I’ve been very happy with UBS as a whole but honestly the clunkiness of the app is a serious detractor from my experience.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
