“It is quite magical to see how simply uMake works.”
Awarded 2015 iPad Pro App of the Year and Editor's Choice on the App Store, uMake lets CAD professionals and 3D modeling enthusiasts create immersive 3D content on the go. Now with features as easy sketch tools, with an intuitive sketching experience; along with 3D tools such as Pull & Push and easy complex surfaces creation; and viewing experience using Augmented Reality (AR) features - it is one of the most natural and most powerful 3D modeling and design apps available.
For the Pros out there, it all starts with a sketch. Create smooth and accurate vector based curves and surfaces using NURBS. Then batch export all of your design files to IGES, STEP, OBJ or STL file formats and continue working on other CAD and 3D Printing apps like Trimble SketchUp, Autodesk Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Procreate, Concepts, Autodesk Alias, Blender, Rhino, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3ds Max, MeshMixer, Netfabb and more. Give even more depth to your designs with the Apple Pencil on your iPad.
uMake Features Include:
• Easy to use drawing experience. Create accurate designs using dimensions, snap tools and more.
• Pressure sensitivity controls for the Apple Pencil.
• Create mass modeling using Push & Pull, Extrude, extrude along a path, revolve and polar array tools.
• Symmetry and mirroring tools
• Importing reference photos, such as floor plans or blueprints and working with them in uMake

This is a quick update with bugs and crashes fixes. In case you missed, here's what's new in version 1.10:
-- Create surfaces of more than 4 curves
It's now easier to create a complex surface. Select connected curves that close an area - the option to create a surface would show up.
-- Create holes using Push & Pull
Easily create holes by sketching a closed shape on a flat surface and then pushing it.
-- Learn tab
Alongside the existing help widget in the Editor, you can now find a new learning experience in the main screen of the app. Exploring and discovering new courses and help videos has never been easier!
-- Updated File Manager
We updated the look of the file manager to make it simple to understand and navigate.
-- Bugs Fixes
We smashed some bugs and working on great performance improvements.
As always, we would love to get your feedback. Feel free to email us at 'firstname.lastname@example.org' with any question or feedback.

Maybe just not a good fit...
I’ve been using UMake for a small number of drawings and I’m just starting to get the hang of it. Overall, it’s fun to use (especially the AR feature) even with some of its limitations compare to CAD programs. It seems like UMake is making progress in addressing these shortcoming. Unfortunately with their new subscription model, this may no longer be the right product for someone like me, which may be representative of a lot of UMake users. That is, I tend to dabble with the product. I would love to continue to get more into it and its advanced features, and maybe someday, use it on a very regular basis where the subscription model would make sense. But at this time and at the cost involved, UMake may not be the best choice for me. I’d be OK with something like a $1.99 per month subscription coupled with a limited number of drawings, but all the features enabled. That would encourage people like me to continue experimenting and learning and someday upgrading to a higher subscription level.
Hi DC in SCV,
Thank you for the feedback.
We need our customers' support to continue developing uMake, therefore a subscription.
If you're a hobbyist or a student, maybe our Education version would be a better fit for you with a one-time payment of $9.99 and limited set of features. Search for 'uMake Education' to get this type of version.
Would be happy to continue the conversation through email. You can email us at: email@example.com if you want to discuss further.
Kills my iPad Mini 2
I was loving this app as it has so much potential and I know I could really benefit from it in many areas but unfortunately it diminishes my battery life very quickly and that’s even when I have only this app running and nothing in the background also it lags terribly bad and crashes on me after a few extrudes or free hand shapes which is pretty bad if I can’t even do that. I was interested in going pro but if I can’t even get through the free version then I see no sense in wasting my time, effort or money. Perhaps it’s just my iPad since my iOS is up to date ect.
I would really like to use this app for my own work since I’ve seen some pretty amazing stuff come out of it in the community creations gallery and from tutorials. I’ve been following and doing the tuts which didn’t seem to give me much of an issue but when I go to create my own thing it does sadly.
Hello, thanks for your review and for listing the issues. We would love to address each of your concerns as we take our users experience quite seriously. Firstly, the iPad 2 is the oldest iPad that uMake runs on. As uMake is a 3D sketching application, it requires quite a fair amount of processing power. As models become more complex, there are more objects to render in 3D, and thus the demand for processing power increases. This can mean heavy battery usage, and as models become more complex, a slowdown in performance. This is the case with any 3D application, even running on high powered computers. As the iPad 2 features the first generation of 64bit processors that Apple made, it is working very hard to run uMake.
Going Pro: We are happy to hear you enjoyed the application so much you considered going pro, however to be clear, if you don't plan on exporting your creations out of uMake to further develop, or import work you are working on, then the free version would meet all of your creative needs.
Crashes - There are few known bugs right now with extrude along path, (especially when symmetry is on) that will cause uMake to crash. We will solve these bugs and more in future updates. We would be happy to discuss more or know more about your issues if you send us an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks again for the review. We would love to get you up and fully running!
