Unbound is a faster, simpler photo manager.

Incredibly Fast

Unbound was designed with speed as a priority. Everything from the initial app launch to scrolling through your thumbs is incredibly responsive. Access photos whenever you want without having to wait.

Easy Organization

Unbound keeps your photo organization simple. Use albums to group your photos and easily find them later. Instant search puts any album within a few taps of your keyboard.

Save Space

Unbound doesn't create a separate photo library like other photo apps. Instead, Unbound uses your existing file structure to create its albums. That means your photos aren't duplicated and you save space.

Easy & Direct Access

Using the file structure also means that you can edit, copy, delete, and move your photos using the Finder, Photoshop, or any other app. Unbound watches the files and stays perfectly up-to-date.

Effortlessly Sync Using Dropbox

Do you want to sync your photo albums with your iPhone, iPad or even multiple Macs? Combine Unbound with Dropbox and you can organize and upload your photos from anywhere and have the changes automatically synced to all your devices.

What's New in Version 1.1.11

Unbound is under new management, and this update makes that apparent by updating help links, contact address, and about windows. Oh, we also fixed up a bunch of bugs and a major performance issue on El Capitan.

Save your 10 bucks, this is unusable for large collections

I’m giving up after several “force quits”, reboots and now an out of memory error while Unbound chugged along trying to process my collection of about 300GB. Guess I’ll have to stick with Finder and Preview until someone solves the picture problem…not sure why it is this hard to do!

PS: I’m running Sierra on a 27” late 2015 iMac with 32GB of installed RAM. Should be enough :-/

Works… but slow

I decided to give this app a try. It is very slow. I have 10+ years of digital photos. 50,000+ pictures all organized in my own folder structure by year, then month. (That is why I don’t use iPhoto) I wanted something simple to work through and use my own structure. It acts as though it is frozen, but it actually does recover it just takes a long time. Walk away, make coffee, eat lunch… come back and it works. If that doesn’t work, force quit and restart it and it does work. As long as there are no major changes to your picture folder, this will continue to work fine. If you delete pictures or find duplicates and delete a bunch or do anything, you will have to go through that again. So does it work? Yes, it is slow however for the initial startup if it is the first time, or first time in a while and many changes were made. Otherwise it does what it says. I have submitted these problems to the programmer, and hopefully this will be looked at and fixed. If not, I will knock off more stars.

More photo viewer than manager

Unbound does a decent job of showing the photos in your library, but there’s not much you can do to organize them. You can make new folders and copy images to them, but a proper manager should have support for adding meta data and searching. A better connection to an external editor would also be nice. Right-clicking and searching a menu, finding your editor isn’t there, and having to choose “other” and then using the Finder isn’t much fun. In contrast to some other reviews, I don’t find Unbound to be particularly slow with my modest 15,000-photo library, but I’m using a Mac Pro with 64 GB of RAM so YMMV.
