UfYH: Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes.
Please be advised that this app contains profanity. The word "filth," in-app, is replaced by the other f-word.
If traditional housekeeping isn’t really your style, but your living space needs a little attention, UfYH’s challenges and customizable features will help you get your place back in shape, a few minutes at a time. Rather than encourage marathon cleaning sessions, UfYH gives you the tools to clean up, a little at a time. Unf&%*ing your habitat turns dreaded chores into easy-to-complete tasks, with a hefty dose of “filthy” language to motivate you to clean up.
-Clean and simple easy-to-use interface.
-Select timed challenges in 5, 10, or 20 minute intervals and try to beat the clock to finish the challenge.
-Select challenges by room.
-Create a customized to-do list and reminders to keep you on schedule.
-Earn achievements for completing challenges or finishing your to-do list.
-Use the 20/10 timer to reward yourself with a 10-minute break for every 20 minutes of work. Shorter challenges count cumulatively toward your total time.
-Random motivators remind you that excuses are boring and use a combination of a little guilt, a little shame, and a little swearing to get you moving.
UfYH is especially useful for those who don’t have a lot of spare time to devote to cleaning: students, people with full-time jobs, people with roommates, anyone who can’t find the motivation to get up and just do something. Even if it’s just a little something! Our lives are complicated and messy, and we’re often overwhelmed and distracted, and sometimes a little lazy. Unf&%* things and see a remarkable difference in how you tackle cleaning.
UfYH uses frequent profanity and is for mature audiences. In-app, the word "filth" is replaced by its older, more foul-mouthed cousin. This app uses the "f-word." A lot. Please be aware of this before purchasing.
What's New in Version 1.3
Bug fixes, new motivators, new room challenges, and new timed challenges
Pretty good, some extra features would be a great addition
I like this app quite a bit. There are some things that could make it even better. It would be nice if you could add personalized tasks to the specific room challenges. For example, a common thing I need to do is clean all my kids stuff of the kitchen table. Right now I can add that as a one time task. It's something I need to do every day though, so if I could add that to the 'kitchen' specific tasks and add a frequency control so that it would pop up one time in four suggested challenges, or something like that, it that would be great.
Another example would be laundry. If I could add a 'do one load of laundry' to a specific room challenge and have it pop up frequently, then I wouldn't have to add this to 'my to un&@#% list' every time I needed to do it.
Another way to do this would be to add a 'recurring' event option to the 'my to un$&#% list'. Like what several calendar apps have for something that happens every day or once a week. So I'd enter 'clean kitchen table' and tell the app that I want this to pop up every day or twice a week, etc...
Another nice addition would be a itemized 'accomplished' task button. I find it motivating to look back at what I've accomplished. A list of specific completed tasks with a nice big check mark next to them would be a good reward.
The Best App Purchase I've Ever Made
This app is - as the description clearly warns - definitely not for people who would rather avoid profanity. Personally, however, I've found the app's no-nonsense bluntness to be just what I needed to help me develop good habits and stay motivated to keep my habitat clean. It's part organizer, part cheerleader, part drill sergeant, and all-around incredibly useful both as a source of inspiration and as a means of breaking down tiresome and/or overwhelming tasks into manageable pieces.
The only thing that prevents me from giving this app a full five stores is that, like at least one other user, I've found that the 20/10 timer's alarm does not always trigger at the end of the break period. Fortunately, I have not had any difficulties thus far with it triggering at the end of the 20-minute work period, so the problem is not as critical as it might have been, but it still impedes the usefulness of the timer function.
I would also find it very useful to be able to set recurring tasks - for example, a once-a-week reminder for any one of those various chores that need to be done regularly. If it would be possible to add such a function, it would make this already amazing app even more useful than it already is.
Make cleaning easy!
I love this app. I am a full-time student who also works a part-time job, and when either of those commitments gets more stressful, my cleaning habits suffer.
This app offers a great way to organize my cleaning tasks. I can set daily or weekly challenges for myself, and the built-in timer helps me to break large tasks into small pieces. Furthermore, the motivational tidbits within the app keep me from beating myself up when I let things go!
The simple, clean interface is easy to use. The developer is constantly working to improve the app by adding new challenges. To me, it makes completing each task more like an achievement and less like drudgery.
Although this app is definitely not PG rated, I think it is a valuable tool. If you are an adult who needs some external help with cleaning and organization and who can handle some profanity without whining and personally insulting the wonderful developer of the app, then I highly recommend it!
If you are instead an overly-sensitive, nitpicking, and prudish ignoramus, like the reviewer who insists on comparing the developer to Beavis and Butthead, I suggest you stay away from this app.
