What's New in Version 2.1.5
• Updated Airport Search List – your favorite airports and recent searches are now available throughout the app, the same way they are listed in the flight booking section.
• Several bug fixes.
Not simply useless: harmful
What's with the multiple boarding passes that don't match? After United cancelled a flight due to lack of pilots (there were a dozen planning to ride free that cut to the head of the line) I get put on standby. I appeared to be pushed off standby because my name vanished from the gate display, my itinerary updated, but the boarding pass still read the original standby (but departure time of midnight). My new standby flight listed 4 others, but when I checked in I was 3 of 5. Then I checked with the gate agent as instructed by the boarding pass, he claimed I was 5th. Suddenly the app says I'm 51 with NO CHANCE of boarding ( I could have been on another flight's list hours ago). Now I'm waitlisted not even on standby trapped with no luggage at a stopover
And everything is jumbled with different layouts and constant going back to other choices from the home menu instead of convenient links. It's not exactly a reservation when I'm on standby and get bumped by any airline employee that walks up. If it's a reservation for a flight, make another flight. You have all the equipment, personnel, and, more importantly, the PREPAID FARES to handle a few of the thousands stranded waiting for scraps from overbooked flights.
Form a queue! Use flights to other cities with hourly shuttles to the destination. Use other airlines just like the other airlines do.
Works great for me
I've traveled the world with this app and found that it does what I expect. Easy check-in, change seats, boarding passes, and push to Apple wallet. Flight status gives quick links to my flights and shows me where I am in upgrade list. Addition of in-flight entertainment was creative and works well. I like having the virtual mileage plus card available since it shows my Star Alliance status clearly, used it in Mexico recently to get into airport "VIP" club. Notifications and gate info have been pretty solid.
Would be 5 stars but I find the Mileage Plus account details lacking. Only lets me access statements up thru 2014, doesn't give running total of PQM, activity is not always listed chronologically. To me, this is not the core use of the app so I'm still happy with this app and rely on it heavily.
Easy to use, but flaky transactions
Very clear and abundant information available with this app. You can find almost all the same info the website has. Unfortunately, when I try to make any transactions, it gets flaky. Booking award travel - continuously gave me a processing error when I selected the award flight I wanted. Estimating award travel - unlike the website, you can't see how much an award flight will be if you don't currently have enough miles for it. Purchasing flight - Got through to the very end of the process to purchase a flight, but when tapping the button to purchase, it gave me errors ("data services unavailable", and "there was a problem completing your reservation"). Starting over didn't help either. Doing it on my laptop worked. Will continue to use this app to reference info, but won't rely on it to do anything.
