Ok for quick an instant tests
It's definitely not good substitution for real tests on devices but just ok for really quick test to get the rough sense of how your apps "feel" like on devices. You still need to compile packages to test the whole performance of your apps. The good thing of Unity Remote is it's easy to set up and use. You just need yo connect your device to the same network as your Mac does.
This is hands down the worst part of the Unity toolchain. Horrible IO lag even with the remote video disabled. I don't really care about the video quality - but it is not usable with the constant dropped inputs, such as lost touches, stuck taps etc. The version from Unity 1.7 on the iPhone 3G was better than this. On the iPad 2 there is no reason this should have such HORRIBLE performance. To be fair, the accelerometer handling seems to work fine :)
This app does exactly what it needs to do and just that.
For those of you who don't know what it is, it's an app that allows you to test iOS games built on the unity engine. Download it from their website.
