Rely on it daily!!!

I've worn an UP band for 2-3 years. While I do like the activity features a LOT (activity tracking, smart coach...) and the reminders and alarms that make the band vibrate to alert you, I LOVE the sleep tracking. Both my husband and I take our quality of sleep very seriously because sleep greatly affects your productivity, ability to think well and energy levels. When we get too little or too much (especially too much) it makes a big difference. I'm POISONED if I get too much, and I don't mean sleeping an hour too much, more like 20 minutes. I even took a sleep course called Sleepio, don't laugh, it really helped. The UP band gives me helpful feedback on the different changes I make to improve my sleep. The only minuses would be the band's durability. Mine lasts a long time but not my husband's. Regardless, I will still own one as long as they are available! Customer support has been missing lately, though. :-( Hopefully they'll return to their original standard.

Great app, sad trackers

Updating my review: Sooo sick of these problems that say the firmware is out of date on the device days AFTER an app update. And the troubleshooting tips are mainly "download the update". I have been through this circle of hell every time with the UP app and every new JAWBONE replacement. I charge my device, check the Bluetooth, uninstall, reinstall, blah blah blah. I'm not technologically challenged and can follow the troubleshooting steps, but apparently the people that work at UP and Jawbone are challenged at putting this thing together.

The app is intuitive. It tells you cool info about your activity like "when you go more than 5000 by noon you reach your step goal". It's very motivating (also creepy that the app has all this data on me). However, sometimes the hardware of the actual Jawbone device makes it hard to reach goals. Like, when it can't get your steps right or sleep right. And there is no way to really edit it when it is incorrect. It does do pretty good with distance when you run 4+miles, but the app assumes that 10,000 steps is 5 miles and that's so stupid. Phone syncing with the device has improved since UP24.

Good app and band, some features are needed

Overall the band is great, and I really enjoy using it. There are a couple things that could use some refining though. For instance, the "stopwatch" mode, that doesn't actually allow you to use the band as a stopwatch. We should be able to tell the band to start counting down either in the app, or maybe by double/triple tapping the band, and have it then buzz on your wrist when the timer is done. This would be perfect for doing timed exercises like push-ups or planks where you don't necessarily want to be staring at your phone the whole time.

I also believe that the smart alarm is too easy to turn off. There should be a mode that requires you to stand up and start walking around for 2-3 min in order to turn the vibration off. My body is already accustomed to tapping the band to turn it off in the mornings and going back to sleep.

Otherwise I am very happy.
