What's New in Version 4.29
•Bug fixes and performance improvements.
Handy, useful, flawed.
Very good app. Been using for 5 years. Clear, simple interface. Currently have an UP2.
Don't use the food tracker, but the sleep & step tracker have become integral to my well being.
The band will break. Period. Get over it. They last only 12-18 months before they snap and are no longer wearable. Jawbone used to replace them, but with the mostly failed customer service response, the only solution is to buy a new one. I've made my peace with the fact - after all, I have to buy new running shoes every year, too.
Battery life is very good, and charging is quick & simple.
Besides the durability issue, my only other functional complaint is that earlier versions (UP24) kept excellent track of my cycling - it seemed to know when I was on my bike and would give me step credit for cranking. Newer movement algorithm thinks I'm resting (just seated) whenever I ride. Of course, I can manually enter a record that I've had time in the saddle, but it doesn't up my base movement numbers. Definitely on my wish list from the app developer.
Overall good, but could be great.
My main reason for getting an UP3 was to track my sleep, which it does very well. The smart coach should tell people that your deep sleep + REM sleep should equal your light sleep. Mine majorly doesn't and I scrambled to figure out the proper ratio. At the moment, I'm wanting a better interface. I'd like to be able to track & adjust my trends, goals, progress and logs from my desktop not just the app. You can add food but it doesn't sync with the app. Not cool. Your able to link a food tracking app to UP but the major one they suggest (MyfitnessPal) is loaded with ads and content I don't want to see. I'd also like to see the ability to create meals and save as a 'recipe' to add in the future without inputting each ingredient again. Nothing stops food tracking like a lot of work.
More than I imagined!
It's almost spooky how much information the UP band gathers just from those little contacts against your wrist. I found the app easy to use and all the data appeared dependable and accurate. I liked seeing how far along I was in meeting my distance goal for the day and I LOVE the sleep tracker! (I thought I'd have to be in a sleep lab with electrodes attached to my head to get data like that!) If I could change one thing, it would be to have the heart monitor recording info at all times and providing stats for a specified period of time; like how long I had my heart rate above 155 and what my max BPM was during my workout. I was so impressed by the features that I bought a second band for my boyfriend and he loved it, too!
