- Don’t forget to download the American app if you haven’t already.
Frustrating to the frequent traveler
This app really is on the low end of airline apps. You can't get your mobile boarding pass directly from the app. You must email it to yourself then click on a link in the email to access it. Unfortunately, American Airlines has started doing the same since the merger. I'm assuming they have a reason but it's really frustrating to the end user.
Additionally it will not keep me logged in and it forgets my credentials such as my AAdvantage number and know traveler ID despite being saved in my profile. When you book a flight that is operated by U.S. Airways through the American Airlines site it is supposed to show up on this app and allow you to check-in. I commonly find that it either doesn't show up on the app, won't allow me to check-in or I can't get my mobile boarding pass.
I've bitten my lip on this for some time to allow US Airways and American Airlines to get there technologies working together. I know that's no small task. It just doesn't seem to really be progressing as I'd expect. They should take a page out of United's book when it comes to their mobile applications.
Easy check-in, but it's kind of pointless if you're checking bags since you'll essentially have to go through it all over again at the airport. Also, even though you're logged in with your Aadvantage number, it doesn't automatically pull up your flights when checking in or or checking flight statuses. You have to manually enter your confirmation number or other info, even though it's already stored in another part of the app.
This is by far the worst app I have ever used. You have a "keep me logged in" option but it doesn't work. There is a "check-in" feature but the mobile boarding pass is almost never available so I still have to go to the kiosk when I get to the airport. This is a colossal waste of time. The whole point of check in should be to retrieve your boarding pass and avoid the airport kiosk lines. Either just have one app via the american airlines app which is wonderful or just delete yours. It is really a disaster and an embarrassment to your organization.
