USA TODAY for iPad and iPad mini

Join the conversation and get the latest news you need 24/7 from USA TODAY on your iPad. The app is wonderfully simple and easy to use. Plus, it delivers even more news content than ever before. It’s more advanced, more fun and there’s much more to explore.

Here’s what’s new in USA TODAY for iPad v3.0:

Deeper, richer and more visual storytelling as well as some great new features…
- Choose your news headlines view: scan the headlines with “List” or lean back and enjoy the image-rich “Grid”
- Save your stories: Not enough time to finish reading an article? Do you have to power down your iPad on the plane? No problem, just save the article and read it later!
- Media index: Do you want to interact with the news? Now you can access a vast selection of USA TODAY photo galleries and videos. Our news is now more informative and comprehensive

You can own your news experience…

How do you read the news? The new app lets you choose your news view: “list” or “grid”. The “list” view will give you a quick scan of the news in the morning when you’re on the go, and the “grid” view offers a visual look into the day’s stories when you have more time to kick up your feet.

Looking for quick access to the sports scores, Snapshots and more? Your favorite USA TODAY features are always close at hand - you can access them via a new sliding panel on the left side of the screen. Customize the panel to fit your interests, and hide it when you’re scanning the headlines.

How about the weather? Well, it’s still cool! USA TODAY has re-imagined its weather coverage with:
- A large, resizable weather map featuring radar and satellite animation
- 10 day forecast
- Hourly forecast
- Weather alert support

Since its launch, USA TODAY for iPad has become one of the most downloaded apps. Users love its simplicity, clarity, 24/7 news updates and the ability to quickly scan the news to get ready for the day.

Our users are our priority, and we greatly value your feedback. We take every review and suggestion into consideration when designing our iPad app. If you don’t see a feature that you have been asking for, please be patient, it’s on the way!

Enjoy the USA TODAY app for iPad!

iPad app is stripped down version of iPhone app

Really surprised and dismayed that the iPad USA Today app would have so very much less news coverage than the iPhone app. Although it takes advantage of the bigger screen and gives you a choice of layout, it doesn't begin to offer the multiple subcategories of news found on their iPhone app. Essentially, the iPad app just has the top news stories in each category - News, Money, Life, Tech, Sports, etc. - without any subcategories. And was hardly any political or world news in the news category. But the iPhone app is far more robust in news content and has multiple subcategories of news to choose from. For example, when using the iPad app you only have the main categories to choose from and none of the subcategories. And they didn't just merge everything into a single category on the iPad app. For the iPhone app they have the News which brings up a menu where you can choose from many sections to see: Top Stories, National News, World news, Washington news, 2016 political news, news videos, etc. The Life section on the iPhone app isn't a single category either, but also gives you many sections: Top News, TV news, Movies news, Celebrities, Music, etc. I probably am going to delete this iPad app and just use the USA Today iPhone app on my iPhone.

Was one star, now two

I am moving this app up to two stars. You have done some work but not enough. On a page of the news i will find 2 or more of the same article. this app doesn't have the newspaper look as it once did. I like that. the crossword still isn't right but it is getting there. Please do more work to bring this app back to the great appmit once was.
You have done some work on the crossword but the news part still is a joke. I still can give more than 1star. (earlier review. The pictures will not. The videos are a joke. Crossword puzzle is not useable. I go to this app everyday but now I will wait for another update and see if the many problems are resolved.)

Back down to one star. (We really should be able to do more than one review since we are review a different update)
No where does this say anything about in- purchases but now I can not read a store without an ad popping up over the text. I don't see a way to get rid of it. If you want us to read the ad fine but have a way we can move us. If you want to start charging for the app then tell us. But this crap is ridiculous.

Fairly good app, but frustrating!

I start my day off reading this app as well, and I agree with some of the other reviews. Updates are not timely. Many news articles are repeated within sections and way too many articles stay on the app for too long. I absolutely hate apps that automatically play data-wasting videos. Consumers already have to endure advertisements on videos that waste data, so they should not have videos playing in background or loading and playing automatically. I have a capped data plan and I limit videos to those I choose to watch. I do not want someone else deciding for me and wasting my data. The puzzles are a favorite, but I am frustrated by the way they lock up and get stuck on old puzzles. The app will not load new puzzles. I have contacted USA Today app support and sent emails to customer support, but no one responds.
