What's New in Version 7.21
Bug fixes and performance improvements.
Garbage . . .
USAA used to be the gold standard in customer service, but apparently no longer. In addition to the app mistakenly saying I hadn't paid my credit card bill the first time, it allowed me to pay it a second time, resulting in a credit on my card. In addition to keeping accurate records, there needs to be a confirmation page asking whether you're sure you like to put an additional credit on your card, since I imagine few people would want to store money on a credit card, which doesn't pay interest. Worst of all, I had my first ever terrible experience with USAA's customer service, where instead of simply fixing the error, they expected me to jump though all of these hoops and pay penalty fees just to get my money back. Is this now what US veterans can expect from their credit union? Starting to look for alternatives. Soon as I find one, I'll be dropping my account, unless things improve.
Discovered Contact Feature
In the past, it was a struggle for me to call USAA as I'd be in a foreign location without access to a telephone. When I saw the option to contact USAA, my initial thoughts was it would just be a phone listing. When it opened a dialer on my iPad Air 2 and starting to ring I was blown away. I was able to speak to a representative and addressed my issue. Surprisingly, chat wasn't available for whatever reason, but I am completely satisfied with the end results. Only negative, possibly due to security reasons, is that there's no way to link USAA accounts with Apple Pay, unless you are CONUS. I do, however, have Touch ID enabled to access my USAA account.
This One Kind of Stinks Compared to Old Version
With the older version of the app, I could see everything quickly on one page. This one tries to be cute with minimizing views, which is a pain. I can't even find my insurance information on the main page, I have to go to the accounts page. Then, if I want to go to Transfer, I have to go back to main page and hit Transfer. In the old app, there were just buttons at the bottom of the screen, all the time.
This UI is something of a mess. Must've hired someone who thought they knew better on how things should be done. Do yourselves a favor, USAA. Fire that person.
