Utiful is a new, easier way to organize your photos. It’s the only app that lets you sort out your practical pictures and enjoy your real photos better. You get a separate place for your practical pictures and the ability to move (not just copy!) photos from the camera roll into it. Utiful enables you to move all your practical stuff like work pictures, personal projects, and private images into a folder structure of your own so they are easily located when you need them, and they don’t stand in the way when you want to view and enjoy your memories.

Utiful gives you a separate photo storage for practical pictures, which is a must-have add-on to iOS and its Photos app. Think of it: The iPhone enabled us to keep not only photographs like holiday snaps but also lots of purely practical pictures like bills, recipes, books to buy, screenshots etc. However, all these images get saved in one and the same place and your camera roll becomes a cluttered mess that gives you an uneasy feeling every time you open it. Not anymore! Utiful provides you with a fast and easy filing system for your practical pictures, completely separated from your standard photo library, which beautifully solves the problem! With Utiful, your practical pictures are organized and easy to locate, and your standard photo library is again the home of your real photographs.

And here’s how it works, easy as a charm! Utiful enables you to easily create a folder and move to it photos and videos from the camera roll so you can then delete them from the camera roll but keep them in the new folder. And, Utiful allows you to do so straight from the Photos app! A must-have! Move your work, project, and private pictures to Utiful to clean up the camera roll and get your memories clutter-free. Sort your practical pictures into Utiful folders to find things quickly when you need them and put an end to the endless scrolling through a messy camera roll. Last but not least, your folder structure is not “stuck” on your device: You can easily export all your Utiful folders and sub-folders to your computer and seamlessly synchronize them between your iPhone and iPad!

What a great idea!!!

Ever use your phones camera to capture images of things that weren’t really “PHOTOS”? Classroom or meeting whiteboards? Info from posters or other ads? A quick shot of a business card? Or maybe it’s the name and number of a potential new “date” jotted down on a cocktail napkin? (Yeah...I’ve been there too - don’t judge!) You name it. Our phone cameras are great tools for capturing information quickly and accurately. But who wants all that STUFF in your camera roll with all of your pictures? Maybe it’s the photographer in me, but that really drove me crazy. Not anymore though. Utiful is a really cool app that lets me store and organize these images in a folder structure that I create so they are easily located when I need to refer to them....but they are OUT OF MY CAMERA ROLL when I want to view my photo library!!! Two problems are immediately solved - the images are organized and easy to locate AND, my camera roll is once again a place for my photographs - not all the other STUFF I may shoot. It works great on iPad and iPhone. Seamlessly backs up and syncs in the cloud! I’m not one to write a lot of reviews, but I stumbled over this almost by accident one day while searching for something else in the App Store. I’d never heard of it - and likely you haven’t either. But it works extremely well and I could not be happier that I found it! I simply can not recommend this fantastic little app strongly enough! A true “diamond in the rough”!

Great start!

I find this app useful but it could also be so much more! There’s an iPad app called Pixave that I tend to compare it to. You need a Mac app to sync to your desktop because we still do most finishing work from our desktops anyways; it would be great to have that organization synced and easily accessible from libraries on my Mac. Add a ton of new features for file management / viewing / etc and top it off with a smooth modern UI and UX with a few special touches like haptic feedback and interface sounds bleeps and bloops during app events. Otherwise, it’s a solid app.

Thanks for making this app

One more thing... I would find it extremely useful to be able to access detailed info of each image easily and quickly. Like Path Finder on Mac or something. These days there are so many different uses for images and each have their own set of requirements for their image properties (e.g. Facebook, your reddit avatar, printing a 4X6 picture of you and mom, pdf’s with the company logo to be printed on T-shirt’s in CMYK, a transparent png of your logo at exactly 540 pixels, your svg as your svg). And since I’m on my soapbox this morning, I tried saving animated png’s (APNG) to the app but they must have been converted into basic png or something they were no longer animated. Thanks for listening ; )

For years I tried to use get used to iphone’s apple’s forced method of media management. Their Camera roll = a pile of media that you have to sift through any time you want to find something.

I thought, creating albums would be a great way to organize my media and find it QUICKLY, but the Iphone and Apple hasn’t figured out how to make this efficient.

For example. You create an album, assign a photo from your camera roll, but it STAYS in the camera. Although this sounds simple, it is NOT user friendly for a very simple reason. There is no indication the the photo in the camera roll has been added to an album. As a result, you are forced to go back and forth to double check that you “assigned” media to albums. It’s like being in media hell to be frank.

THIS app removes media from your camera roll - done and done. No second guessing, no scrolling to find that one pic you want to share with the group, only honest simple albums with the media you assign to them.

Thanks Utiful for finally making media management easy and effortless.

Apple, take note of the way they do it.
