Veggie Samurai is in no way associated with Halfbrick Studios and/or the game Fruit Ninja.
Great with a tablet
I was cautious about getting this, but since I couldn't get fruit ninja on my mac (couldn't find it at the App store?) and everyone around me was playing it, I decided to try this- it seemed to be similar. I mean...it's not pricey, so why not? I figured since I had a bamboo touch and pen tablet connected to my mac it might help- and it DID! I LOVE playing this! Thanks so much QuantumSquid! You've made my day! :) I love the different types of levels(?), achievements, etc...
Frustrating with a Mouse, Even More with a Trackpad
***UPDATE*** After three days with this app, I discovered that if you have a trackpad, you can use three fingers to slice the veggies, and you can also let go of two and make it one finger after three fingers have made contact with the trackpad. This game is hard on the computer, no questions asked! I have to reduce one star because of this. Harmony is my favorite mode, and with iOS, my high score was around 2500 (Yeah, I'm not the best player) and here, it's only around 500-800. Basically your scores are reduced 75%. This was a great idea, but a bad system to execute it on. Just introduce Veggie Samurai Uprising for the iDevices, and I'm fine. :)
-3 Stars because it's hard to play on a computer. (Not because the game's bad)
Would I recommend it for $2? If you're a hardcore veggie slicer, I would, but for first timers, get Veggie Samurai for the iDevices and experience the magic there. (Fruit Ninja too, and the sequel, which introduces new challenges) If you love it, get this one! $2 is a steal, compared the prices for other games.
When I first got an iPod, the first app I got was Fruit Ninja, which was good, but not great. Then Veggie Samurai came along, and at first it seemed like a ripoff, but then after just five minutes, it was a hidden gem…
The first thing that I did after I got my Mac was look for fun and productive apps. I searched Fruit Ninja first, but with no avail, because it wasn't available. Then, half a year later, here comes Veggie Samurai! Even better!
The first thing I noticed was all the achievements! Wow…
HOWEVER, when playing the game, (I played Harmony first), it's MUCH EASIER to play with your iDevice. A mouse is frustrating, and if you don't have one and you're stuck to a trackpad, this game is impossible. This is one thing the devs can't fix… Maybe try making the fruit come on screen slower?
CPU Usage is more than acceptable, at 10%.
I can't give 5 stars, but I will if there are customizable blades and backgrounds, like Fruit Ninja!
The other weird thing is that yesterday this app was $2.99, but I decided to hold off until today. Lo and behold, this app is now $1.99… Wonder what happens tomorrow?
