• Not a whole lot of updates this time around, but we wanted to get an important emoji-related bug fix out: If you open up a story from a push notification, you can once again use emoji auto-complete to dazzle your friends using hieroglyphics of the 21st century.
Horrendous, virtually nonexistent customer service
I was doing okay with this app for a while. I mean, I didn't like connecting my bank account to it rather than my credit card, but I was willing to put up with that slightly nerve-racking fear of bank account hacking in order to avoid paying transaction fees to/from my friends when we split dinner or something.
But then I had a password issue and needed to reach Venmo's customer service. It was impossible to reach customer service unless I went to a desktop computer and used a very specific web browser; there was no access to it via iOS device, and I went through 2 or 3 desktop browsers before finding one that worked. The customer service contact information was buried so deeply as to be almost untraceable.
Venmo's deliberate lack of customer service is deplorable, especially since they have direct access to every customer's money. This company is despicable, and I will never support them again. I would rather use PayPal and deal with minor fees because at least I know PayPal is reputable and addresses customer problems appropriately.
Love it! Bye bye PayPal...
Gotta say, some of my friends don't care for the fact that you use your bank association to sign in but I personally didn't mind. I know it's always free. It's easy to sign up AND it's easy to send and request money. The 💰💸 transfers to your bank really quickly. The one thing for new users: you have to "cash out" in the dash board for it to transfer the money from Venmo to your account. I also love that I have three bank accounts I can easily switch between for payout pending who I am paying. It was easy at the years end to see who all I paid for what for tax purposes. The one thing Venmo could improve is advertising so my buddies stop asking me to use PayPal...Thanks for making such a brilliant app.
Erasing muchers from America
Venmo is great for paying friends back, but I was already pretty reliable at doing that. The real reason I appreciate Venmo is because it makes it much more difficult for people to bail out on paying you back. All throughout high school and college I had a friend that was always short on money and so I would pay for drinks, movie tickets, bar covers, dinner etc. she always promised to pay me back. Another thing she did was always forget (or act like she forgot) to pay me back. It was too nice and passive to remind her, but venmo fixes all of that!!! It also seems to be very safe. Definitely one of my top 10 (maybe 5) favorite apps.
