Works well and is Safe
I use Venmo mostly to pay back small amounts of money that I may not be carrying on me. It is an easy money transfer app that PUTS THE MONEY IN A SEPARATE VENMO ACCOUNT. What you do afterward with that money is your business. You can use that cash in future Venmo transactions or, if you are able to set it up properly (which may take a while, but only because the company want to be safe with your money), you can transfer the money to your bank account. I have not done that yet personally, because I can still pay people just fine and it's not like the money in my Venmo account is going anywhere except for when I pay with it.
Overall, I haven't had any issues with it yet. I am actually surprised an app dealing with money transfers runs so smoothly. I also like how I can see how my friends are sprucing up their transaction messages.

I tried to send my daughter money and did 2 transfers. That was Sept 18. It is now the 27th. They are holding my money. Now they are asking for a copy of my driver's license and my bank statement. Is this a scam? Has anyone else had this problem? All I have asked now is for a refund to the bank account the money was removed from. They refuse. I will use Western Union from now on.
Update: finally after sending them copies of mine and my daughter's driver's licenses, bank account statements and her bank card the money was in her account on Oct 7. Each time we contacted them another person would ask for the same information. They would say, oh, that's being handled by another department. I finally told them I was in contact with the consumer affairs department of the Attorney General's office the money I tried to send her on Sept 18 showed up in her account. Don't use them. From now on I'll be more careful of apps like this.

Got this app because several people wanted to pay me with it. Great. They paid me, I have a bunch of money in there now. Go to set up a bank account to transferm and the app is stuck in a loop after authenticating. My bank is citibank, after entering my credentials it asks if I opened the account in northern or southern california, I choose, and then it's back to the beginning of the process. So I can't withdraw my money, and perhaps more troubling, my login credentials have been sent to a faulty app in the clear, and I have no idea who or what has access to that since the app is stuck in a loop. total waste of time, and now my personal banking information has been compromised, so I have to change all my login credentials. utter garbage, would give it negative ratings if possible.
