The Venmo magic:
• Transfer money easily and quickly using a friend's name, @username, phone, or email.
• Find friends automatically by syncing your Facebook or phone contacts.
• Stay in control of what you owe, what friends owe you and what you’ve bought.
• Make purchases in select apps using Venmo, so you can split and share your finds with friends more easily.
• Venmo uses data encryption to protect your financial information. That means we keep your actual card or bank information private by not sharing it when you send money or make purchases.

The worst app
How bad is Venmo? This bad: you can't see your funding source when you use it (you must go into settings). And, after you use it, you can't tell what bank account or credit card was used on a transaction. That would be enough to earn a one star review, but there's more. The app resists notes in English, preferring emoji-like symbols (for example, a stylized P for parking). True, you can eventually leave a plain language note, but it takes several tries to get past the automatic symbol replacement. The app also has a tasteless, cheesy aesthetic. It reminded this user of Steve Jobs's withering take on Microsoft--they have no taste. Although Venmo has identified a real need to make cash-free payments, we can only hope a more competent and user-friendly app appears to replace it.
Really great app!
I use this app all the time and love it. It makes going out with others so much easier! If you forget your wallet, your friend can get it and you can venmo them what you owe! Also when it comes to paying bills and stuff if living with roommates, you can venmo your part of it! You add your bank account, and it takes it from that account. However, I haven't sent more than $256 so if there is a limit for trying to send too much, then I am unaware of it! Overall, love how useful this app is!
I've never made huge transactions on here so I can't speak for those but for small quick transfers and fast deposits it perfect. Zero hidden fees or service charges makes it even better and it's also a service of PayPal- so if you do have issues you have people to contact- it's not some mystery app. I recommend this app every time I can! Also- if you aren't doing anything bad who cares if people can see it or that you use "emojis?!" Lighten up people.
