Bugs galore due to subpar backend
The app didn’t work right out of the gate. Likely due to the backend system it was linked to. I had a membership that was canceled, then I reapplied under a new offer. They entered me as a new user which caused conflicts with the old account which was at a different membership level. The app kept looking at the old account and wouldn’t let me book classes at the new higher level. At my home club, the staff said they couldn’t erase the outdated account. Not sure how it slipped through testing, but this scenario should’ve been uncovered in development. The fix took me three hours between two visits with staff. In the end, it was something they needed a manager or the developers to solve. Horrible user experience. While my app wasn’t working, I called to book a class. This was let with a “policy” that they couldn’t book me over the phone.
Bad integration with a poor backend, compounded with horrible customer service when met with complaints. Gym is and classes are a 4.5, app is a 1.5.
Bugs and beyond
This app always has some type of bug. Whether it’s not letting you register for classes because it doesn’t recognize the type of membership you have, freezing when attempting to delete, or the most recent it has you auto logged out and will not reboot to recognize your login.
In addition to this, I switched home gyms from Guilderland to Latham after I moved this past year. It’s been terrible because any time I go to through the app, it shows me my Guilderland schedule and I have to go through several steps to change it to latham. If I want to sign up for more than one, I have to undergo all those steps again to get to Latham.
I’m also really disappointed in how they changed the rewards system from the old app. Now the only way to earn rewards for participation is if you wear their heart monitor.
Over all this app is kind of like the gym, it puts a bandaid on things but never fixes any of the root cause issues and leaves a lot to be desired.
This App is extremely unfriendly. It does not track classes even if you reserve in advance which you can’t do on this app. It opens to Vent Studio instead of the registered home club and then you have to go through several screens just to find a class schedule. This app should be deleted and the old one put back in place as it at least was functional
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
