Description

Vesper is a simple and elegant tool for collecting notes, ideas, things to do — anything you want to remember. Organize your notes whatever way comes naturally to you, without complications. Vesper's focus is on how it feels to use.

• Use tags to group related notes.

• Attach photos.

• Drag and drop notes to reorder them — move important ones up, other ones down.

• Swipe a note to send it to the archive. Out of sight, but remembered forever.

• Keep notes backed up with Vesper Sync.

What's New in Version 2.006

• Fixed a bug that prevented scrolling in longer notes.

Terrible - Verging on Abandonware

I've been using Vesper since its first release, and what was once a pretty good app is now close to abandonware. Vesper has a serious bug in iOS 9 that prevents scrolling in long notes; I had to start copying my documents to Apple Notes to read them. Are they seriously charging $10 for this? An email to support went unanswered as well.

Vesper's main developer quit earlier this year, and everything's stagnated since then. Besides there being no big fixes, the app hasn't gotten any new features or meaningful changes in at least a year. The promised Mac app is nowhere to be seen.

If Vesper was a free app this would still be disappointing, but Vesper's developers are trying to set a "premium" price point, which is really unjustifiable. Asking your users to pay for a high end product and then abandoning it is a really bad way to do business.

Native iOS Notes app is easily 10x better

Please don't waste your money on an app that has seemingly been abandoned by the devs. Furthermore the native iOS Notes app is easily 10x more full featured than Vesper.

Features that Vesper doesn't have:

Support for 3D Touch

Support for Secure Notes

Drawing/Sketch Tools

Tight integration with Siri

Tight integration with iOS share sheet

Still not optimized for iPad Pro or Apple Pencils 3 months after release

Support for TouchID

Works seemingly across all of your iOS/OS X devices. They've been promising a Mac app for over 2 years now.

This app hasn't received an update in over 11 months (besides 1 small update to fix an annoying bug). I recently encountered a problem in which I seemingly lost months of data from multiple notes. I was able to resolve said problem myself, but in the course of trying to do so I contacted vesper support via both e-mail and Twitter. Over three weeks later, no one had responded. Gruber also failed to respond to multiple tweets, although he still heavily promotes Vesper on his site. Due to the lack of support, I honestly couldn’t, in good faith, recommend this app to anyone.

Still does what it's supposed to do

While it has been a long time since Vesper was last updated meaningfully, it's still the best app I can find for capturing thoughts and organizing them.

Every time I try out another app, I end up coming back to Vesper because...

1. It's beautifully and simply designed.

2. The syncing quietly works.

3. All I do with the app is write. There's no distraction with features, or sharing, or automation, or formatting.

4. The editor lends itself to writing on an iPhone. I enjoy writing with Vesper.

5. It works like a little notebook in you back pocket would work. You write something, it stays there where you put it on the page. Simple, yes, but not always understood by other apps.

I do hope to see a Mac app in the future to view my notes but the sharing feature is functional enough when I need to get a note out of Vesper.
