Love it; just a few problems
I love Vine and I'm on it everyday but I do have a few issues with it. I am part of a large group of the app's users known as 'editors'. We put together videos of our favorite band, tv show, celebrity etc. But lately a lot of editing accounts have been deleted and suspended. Part of that has been said to be caused by not having our names in our usernames and not uploading a video taken from our cameras on Vine. I feel like this isn't fair because not everyone uses the app for the same reason. We don't all make and upload our own comedy videos and instead, post edits. This is a hobby for us and allows us to have fun and even meet some of our best friends through sharing these videos.
We shouldn't loose our accounts for that. Also, I strongly dislike the new update. The uploading process is more confusing when it comes to adding the caption and posting. I like the way it used to be so much more. And finally, revining. It is more confusing and a much slower process the way it's been changed, because it shows the option to share the vine to other apps such as Twitter, in the same selection/button. I want it to be changed back to having the revine button and share button separate. Please look into changing it back!
The app's great, users mediocre
Vine has been extremely proactive in updating the app's format, adding more features and increasing its navigability in general. There is a noticeable problem though, and it is the content. The most popular users on the media platform have been lacking in creative, hilarious content that will actually make you laugh, dismiss Zach Piona, Brandon Calvillo and some others. The use of "coordinating music" with the theme of the vine is so overused and lame, just to make up for the lack of comedic talent. The promotion of "thug culture" is also worrying. I really think these 6 second videos create an opportunity for some extremely comically gifted people to go above and beyond, but I haven't seen it from many. The most popular users and liked vines really aren't quality humor. A large amount is teenage humor for uneducated teens. I'd like to witness more vines that truly make me laugh, not just "relatable" but incorporate originality, timing and expression that would impress Jerry Seinfeld.
*British Accent* The app boomed at one point in time. The begin of the "depression" if you may, started when Vine banned accounts from being able to be on the Sports Popular page. A decrease in users of the app started. Later on in Vines years, it decided to ban accounts from revining. And that is the bullet, that killed vine. Although famous viners such as Lele Pons and Curtis Lepore, will still be popular on vine, the smaller underdog accounts are dying off, losing thousands of followers and causing the popularity of the growing
old app, to decrease rapidly. I enjoyed the app, Vine, at one point but have started to lose my love for the app. Obviously many other people think the same and are leaving the app. Turning a 5 and a half rated start to a devistating low, 2 amd a half. Owners of the 6 second video app,
Twitter, can save the app by promoting it throughout twitter forcing people to see the app. They also could open up the Sports Popular page, bringing back old followers who loved to watch sports videos with music and visual effects. But they can decide their destiny, my voice is just a small one in this vast world and probably won't be heard. But it's worth a shot!
