Welcome to the Virgin Atlantic App. This is an official app and was produced by Virgin Atlantic.
Our app allows you to check-in, select seats, keep an eye on flights and link to our mobile website while on the move. This free app is simple to use and you can:
•Interact with a spinnable, zoomable world globe showing (near) real time location of our fleet of aircraft and tap on a plane and get arrival & departure information
•NB The plane positions are now enhanced with data from www.flightaware.com so are much more accurate over US and UK airspaces
•View the approximate flight path of the aircraft. Also shake your device to select a route at random.
•See flight schedules/timetables taken from a live feed so they are always up to date
•Check-in and select your seat on an interactive plan of the aircraft
•View short videos of most of our destinations
•Link to Flying Club account info in our mobile website
•View latest news from our Twitter feed @VirginAtlantic
•Link to iPhone friendly pages on the V-Flyer site (www.v-flyer.com) such as seat maps and customer photos. Note this site is independent to Virgin Atlantic.
If you are offline, the app will store flight and Flying Club information so you can still see most of the details.
We plan to keep it fresh by updating it at least quarterly. There is an email feedback option within the app for your suggestions of what we should add next. We really appreciate hearing your opinions, so please continue to let us know what you think!
The app is part of a family of mobile services which currently include the Virgin Atlantic Trip Journal app, the Virgin Atlantic London City app and the Virgin Atlantic mobile website (mobile.virginatlantic.com).
Thanks also due to www.flightaware.com for providing enhanced aircaft position accuracy.

What's New in Version 2.4
We have added partner airlines such as Delta to our schedules and flight status information to bring you live coverage of our entire global network, plus some performance enhancements and general bug fixes.
Frustrating and poorly thought out
Try to check in for a flight, if you’re one minute too early the flight check-in process hits a deadened from which you must force-quit the app to escape (apparently the developer never heard of a Back button). Then when you finally are allowed to check in, it asks you for your passport number and expiration date, but if you dare to switch out of the app to, let’s say, consult your secure notes app where you keep your passport info on the phone to make cut/paste easy, the app loses your place and you have to start over again… meaning that you have to stop, write down the info, and then begin from scratch. Then, it ask you again for personal info (full name, email address, etc.) that it should already be able to pull from your ticket info, or from the three screens previous when you typed it in once before. Clearly the developer never actually tried to use this app in a real world usage scenario. And then, heaven forbid you want to put your boarding pass in the Apple Passbook, you have to have it emailed or texted to you. I would suggest the developers check out the apps of other major airlines so that they’ll get a sense of the baseline functionality and workflow that is expected of anyone developing an app of this type. It’s like a high schooler’s pet project, not the app of a cool hip airline.
It's a 'cute' app - you can look at a globe showing all current airborne flights, log into your Flying Club account (albeit I have had trouble with this for ages), and look and departing and arriving flights. The only two I have is that with the globe feature, it doesn't allow you to zoom into LHR where there is often a cluster of little planes making it impossible to see what flights are departing or arriving from Heathrow. The second BIGGEST question I have is 'Why on earth can we not book flights'? App lags behind competitors like British Airways.
WORST APP EVER!
Why have an app if it doesn't even function correctly or do the basic requirements?! Not only doesn't it load, but it doesn't recognize confirmation #'s, e-ticket #'s, or even give options for the correct flight #'s. I have deleted the app and won't download it again. What a waste of time. I needed to check-in quickly, so instead of using an app (like I do for every other airline), I had to go on to the responsive website and do it that way.
Get your stuff together developers. I work at a company that develops apps, and this is NOT a good app.
