What's New in Version 2.0
This is an exciting update to Virtual Piano! Here's what we've done...
• DISPLAY MULTIPLE OCTAVES AT ONCE
Finally! You can view up to three octaves at a time, and you still have the choice to control everything via musical typing or touch!
• INTERFACE UPDATE
The interface has been fine tuned to look great and work great.
• INDIVIDUAL KEY DEPRESSION
Whenever you play a note, the key will actually look like it is being pressed, so you can know what you're playing!
Perfect to pick out a tune!
This is exactly what I was looking for! I already play the piano, and read music. My need was something I could grab really quick or already had with me (laptop) to pick out a tune when I couldn’t quite hear it in my head. Sometimes I’m picking out church music or something and I just can’t access a piano to check a melody or the sing-ability of a particular version of something. Or something that seems completely unfamiliar to me. I used to use my tiny old MIDI machine, especially at auditions, but I might not have it with me, or don’t want to carry another piece of equipment around “just in case”.
Note to those auditioning with it, when you’re asked to look something over then sing it, this may sound selfish, but use EARPHONES. For you, you’ll be able to hear it, and you won’t have to end up playing everyone elses sample for them because they weren’t prepared, and for them, you won’t be bothering others who are trying to go over a different tune.
Quick note checker
Sometimes my sight reading isn’t always as accurate as I’d like it to be, and this app is perfect for correcting mistakes while I learn. Interface is intuitive and simple, sound ok for what I need it to do. I don’t think I’ll be playing a concert with this app any time soon, and it’s great for just being there to serve as a learning companion and note checker.
minimal, ok for what it does
Works fine for what it is, a very minimal piano that can be played with keyboard keys or mouse clicks
Piano sound is not awesome
Top note in 3 octave view (or any other view we’ve tried) is c 2 octaves above middle c, which is not high enough for high soprano pieces. Would be much more useful for vocal work if the 3 octaves range could be set up and down.
