Virtual Synth is an experimental synthesizer for your iPhone/iPod touch. You can generate sine tones and square waves from a wide range of frequencies. Experiment with different grid positions to generate modulating signals with different beat frequencies. A minimal control interface and engaging graphics make it a lot more fun to use.
Touch to create an instrument anywhere on the grid. The numerical labels display frequency values. You can select a different instrument/frequency and tap on an existing instrument to change it. The beat frequency for modulating waves increases diagonally. Tap with two fingers at any time to remove all instruments.
X: to show/hide frequency labels.
+/-: to toggle adding or removing instruments.
F: to show/hide slider display to change frequency range.
Every time you move the slider the grid updates with a new range of available frequencies. Making it convenient to have instruments of a wide range of frequencies playing at the same time. After adding an instrument the frequency label doesn't change unless you remove it or replace it with another instrument.
sin: to add a sine tone.
mod: to add a modulating signal.
sqr: to add a square wave.
Great for drones
This is a great synth for quickly creating drones. The grid layout allows you to remember what your favorite shapes are, but the frequency slider and multiple waveforms allow you to chisel out new sounds from those settings. The interface may need tweaking for live performance, but this will be best friends with my sampler in no time.
Unique tone generation tool
Bravo! Can't improve on what the description says except to note its a beautiful app with clean implementation.
I really like this , very unique , would like to see it develop more,,, cant wait to experiment more :)
