What makes Visible Body’s Human Anatomy Atlas the worldwide best-seller?

**Expertly developed and reviewed for accuracy.
Our 3D models and animations were created by biomedical visualization experts with advanced degrees from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Yale University, University of Texas, and others.

**The most comprehensive anatomy definitions and explanations of common pathologies.
Includes pronunciations and Latin names. No other 3D atlas on the market provides this much additional description of each anatomical structure. Other competitors source content from Wikipedia. Our definitions are expertly written and reviewed by anatomy professors. The descriptions of common pathologies are from the NIH database.

**Award-Winning
Medgadget calls the graphics “nothing short of breath-taking." (medgadget.com). Ranked #1 by iMedicalApps! "Rarely does an app come along and knock my socks off. . . Ideal for students and teachers of anatomy, as well as for patient education." (imedicalapps.com). AMI Award of Excellence.

**Easy to use. The interface of Visible Body’s Atlas provides fast access to 3d models, the ability to edit, and to share. Access views for all twelve systems from one home screen. Edit any view by quickly adding entire systems or individual structures. Email images. Share 3D model views with other users of Atlas for iPad/iPhone. Create notecards to use in presentations or for studying.

**In-app purchases provide the option to expand the anatomy atlas to include physiology and pathology animations that are ideal for patient education or undergraduate students. Select from a library of 90+ animations that introduce physiology and common pathologies. These are available as in-app purchase in packs:
Respiratory and Circulatory Pathologies
Digestive and Urinary Pathologies
Introductions to the function of each body system
Introductions to the types of cells and their functions
Functions of the digestion, urinary, and endocrine systems

Great Data. Dated Interface

I really like the content in the Human Anatomy Atlas, but I really dislike the interface. It's kinda clunky and I feel like I'm using something transferred onto the iPad platform rather than something developed for it directly. It also takes almost 40 seconds to launch on a new iPad Air 2. As I use this for my personal edification, I would really like to have something I don't have to relearn when I go back. Oh and they could handle selecting a bit better. That opaque turquoise isn't the best for targeted studying. Also how about an option for a male voice when reading? The female voice included is a bit shrill to my ears.

But the content is just awesome. The regional data and images are great and the video animations quite useful. Disease data is also a plus. Can't think of any other app that offers it.

Not worth it.

The animations on this app really aren't that great. I find myself searching for the images I want online rather than spend the time trying to get the view of structures I want on the app. In the end, I am usually more satisfied with the free online image.
The default views are rarely helpful, and along the way, one of the updates removed all my saved views, so I hesitate to spend all the time recreating the views I want.
This would all be fine for a free app, but to pay $30 for an app not worth using is a joke. Even more, to get the features you need to make this app worth while, you have to double your investment and get the bundle.
To top it all off, the app is extremely slow to load, and frequently crashes on opening. With all the room this app takes up on my device, I often consider deleting it. The only reason I haven't is that it is the most expensive app I have (though it is far from the best).

Pretty Effective

I’ll start the review with the cons and end with the pros. FYI I’m an anatomy tutor, and this app is my aid, which also got me an A in my anatomy class when I went though:
Cons:
-The controls are not intuitive, which you’ll notice the first time you try to zoom in on something.
-Especially for bone anatomy, this app has limited information. You’ll have all the bones, yes, but if you’re like me and the people I tutor, you’ll need to supplement this app with outside materials to cover landmarks on bones.
Pros:
-Exhaustive information on every other anatomical system. You’ll get a summary of attachments, insertions, innervation, etc.
-Very useful on-the-go
-Mostly intuitive
-Allows you to customize your view so that you can look behind parts of the body
-Fully manipulatable interface/ view
-Extremely helpful aid for tutors!

TL;DR: If you’re taking Anatomy class, I definitely recommend this app. In my case, it provided enough information that I didn’t bother reading the anatomy textbook assigned to my section.
