What's New in Version 2.7.2
∙ Stability improvements
∙ Improved HTTP connectivity
∙ Improved UPnP reliability, notably with Twonky, KooRaRoo, PlayOn
∙ Fixed issues unlocking the app when a passcode was never set
∙ Fixed custom subtitles font sizes
I've been using VLC for quite a while on my MacBook and have been very happy. So, when my iPhone couldn't sync with my old MacBook, I had to figure out a workaround and VLC for Mobile was my first choice, though a bit leery based on the reviews. I appreciated the ease with which I could connect to Dropbox, download tunes to my iPhone - but then the trouble started. The songs kept reordering themselves! I've reordered the same playlist numerous times now - and I fear that it still hasn't stuck. Plus, hit "cancel" to save?!? How non-intuitive can you get? Here's hoping for improvements with new updates!
Hassle at first, but works perfectly
It's unfortunate that you will have to take your videos from iTunes and link them specifically into the vlc app, but I'm guessing that there was some reason this app couldn't grab videos from the video library. After I got that nonsense out of the way, I found the vlc player could play videos that had glitched out on my iPhone's video player and that the skip function is leagues ahead of the normal video player. Very impressed so far.
Keeps getting better
Although there are some issues here and there, on the balance this is a great app that just keeps getting better and more capable. I’m really happy that it is now running on the AppleTV.
If you’re going to complain, go donate some money to the volunteers running the VideoLan project non-profit organization that makes this software. If they charged a bit for the iOS software in order to support development, I would not have a problem with it.
