VNC Viewer - Remote Desktop
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
VNC® Viewer from RealVNC® gives you instant remote access to your Mac, Windows and Linux computers from anywhere in the world. You can view your computer's desktop, and control its mouse and keyboard as though you were sitting down in front of it.
Just visit www.realvnc.com and download VNC Connect to each computer you want to control. Then sign in to VNC Viewer on your device using your RealVNC account credentials. You'll see your computers automatically appear; simply tap to connect.
VNC Connect password-protects each computer out-of-the-box. You may need to enter the same user name and password you use to log in to your computer. All sessions are then encrypted end-to-end.
During a session, your device's touch screen serves as a trackpad to give you precise control. Drag your finger to move the remote mouse cursor and tap anywhere to left-click (other gestures such as right-click and scroll are explained in-app).

What's New in Version 3.1.2
Minor bug fixes.
Reliable and performant
Good app and performs well enough with the server component. Not excited about the new subscription pricing model for the server component and I'll re-evaluate when my existing support contracts go up in a few years.
I wish the iOS app supported multiple simultaneous connections and easy switching between these desktops with a gesture or jump menu.
I wish the keyboard could be more compact on iOS9. The keyboard takes up more than half the screen space when in landscape mode.
Perfect solution when traveling with my IPAD
I don't want to haul around a heavy laptop. My solution is to connect to a desktop at home to run windows applications when I need those, and RealVNC has worked well for me. The user interface is probably as good as can be done with the IPAD, including a pull-down soft keyboard for windows keys that have no equivalent on the IPAD. I needed to find a way to wake up the desktop from sleep mode using wake-on-LAN before it would accept the VNC connection.
Works for my applications
The VNC Viewer/Server combo have been the easiest to set up and use, out of the several brands I've tried.
VNC has the input types and motions that I need in order to work with all the programs on my Mac from my iPad.
For someone who only knows enough about computers to get into trouble, setting up VNC was miles easier than trying to figure out TeamViewer...also, I don't have to memorize or enter a password every time I open VNC. That's great for me as I'm the only one with access to my Mac and iPad. Saves a lot of frustration.
