Nice but...

Zod the magnificent

The auv3 U.I. doesn't have a slot for selecting presets. This basically makes auv3 more or less worthless in most daws since you wont have access to your patches. I hope the developer fixes this. Iv seen too many ios synths with this major over-site to be patient about throwing away money on a app ill never use . Would be 5 stars otherwise.

Developer Response

Hey there,
happy to let you know that preset manager is about to move into the AU part in one of the upcoming updates. In the meantime I'm happy to send a beta invite, if that's something you're interested in don't hesitate to get in touch.

Instant Favorite!! From heavy leads to shimmery highs and everything in between. An absolute, absolute must buy, especially with a Roli keyboard!!!

Very solid subtractive synth!

This synth is fairly straightforward, much thanks to a really great UI design. So it should be easy to jump into for more experienced tweakers as well as new people wanting to learn how to synth.

You have a overdrive that lets you tweak the timbre from thin to fat. A meaty multi-mode filter. A flexible LFO and two envelopes (loop-able envelopes). Blablablabasically, it can do juicy, warm and aggressive sounds. The reverb sounds good enough, you can only set the length and a mod parameter, but it’s fairly well balanced, so a long reverb for that lush pad you’re working on won’t smudge/mud things. At least a low cut filter would’ve been nice here though. The delay doesn’t have pingpong mode and, again, some basic high/low freq filter would be nice. The chorus is also good.

The missing star is for a lacking keyboard. Only 2 octaves, which is very limiting, needs an option for 2,5 and 3 octaves. Lots of space, where the mod wheel and pitch wheel are located, that can be used for additional space. No velocity. Usually you have velocity mapped to where you land your finger, ie high up on a key means less velocity. The slide function should work on the keys as well (as an option maybe), not only on the seaboard keys. The parameter depth/amount should be relative to where you land your fingers (as an option maybe), anything else usually causes jumps and spikes on the parameters you’ve mapped to the keys slide.

Great subtractive synth with good effects on top, very capable. You can’t however play with expression on the on-screen keyboard(s). Which was part of the reason I bought it, it seemed like the on-screen keys and taking advantage of the flat glass surface was an important thing here. In its defense I guess, few apps do make good use of the touchscreen as a playing surface nowadays.
