Not what I expected...
I received the VooMote Zapper today and have been playing around with it for the past several hours. The only device I was able to connect with automatically was my Samsung tv, everything else has been a manual process and/or struggle to set up. One item to note to developers, when I try and program a new button on my Comcast remote, it seems to affect the other buttons and I have to end up restarting my iPad for them to work again. Very frustrating! I also am not able to neither auto or manually connect with my blue ray players so am at a standstill with those as well as having trouble teaming up certain buttons on my Comcast remote. It would also be nice to be able to copy commands from one remote to the next. Overall, I am slowly putting together my remotes but am still furious about the above issues. I hope a updated firmware will come out addressing these issues or I may be throwing this device in the trash. Those who are looking for a remote may want to stay away from this device temporarily or until they come out with easier modifications.
New iPad app is no good. Remote is too small and buggy. Please fix!!!
Love it! Would recommend to anyone!!
Don't believe all the bad reviews just need some patience on figuring out the app and all of its good and bad traits, one thing it kept doing to me is crashing on me when I would want to delete a room or device. Wasn't a prob to get around just delete the app go into your cloud settings and delete the app data and start over. Teach in worked well but you would have to go into the remote edit remote tap a button and the tap teach in which worked great after that, heck I even have an electric fireplace programmed into my remotes. Works very well teach-in is an awesome feature the only drawback thus far is unable to delete a room or device if you mess up on the install of a remote which is easily rectified by deleting the app and data stored in the cloud and start over. Did this 5 times and still had 2 rooms and 8 total devices created in 30 min. All in all great device and pretty decent app, again software could use some tweeks but not bad at all.
Worst App Ever
I would give this zero stars if I could. It won't work with iPhone at all. It just keeps on crashing and reinstalling it doesn't help.
On the iPad it worked after trying it for nearly an hour and reinstalling it twice, but guess what, none of my devices are listed and trying to get the app to control any of them by recognizing them doesn't work. In one instance it was able to control the volume on my Samsung TV but the options for the rest of the buttons were off by a mile (I.e., none of the buttons matched the actual ones required to control the TV). I'm returning the boomote (not misspelled, it should be called that because that's the reaction it will trigger). The people at the company must have totally given up on supporting the hardware they are selling and felt confident that there will be enough suckers for them to stay in business for a while longer.
Don't make the same mistake I did by trying to get it to work. It's a waste of time!!!!!
