Spot votes, vote Smart.

Your elected officials vote on hundreds of bills every year. Keeping track of important votes can feel like a full time job.

That’s where VoteSpotter comes in.

VoteSpotter is a simple app that alerts you to key votes, while making it easy to give your legislator feedback on how they voted.

Make yourself heard.

With one click, you’ll be able to vote on your elected officials’ vote, giving them a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down.

Whether you agree or disagree with your elected officials, you can then easily share your opinion with them via email or phone right from the app.

Plus, you can share your view with friends! If you have Facebook or Twitter installed on your smartphone, you’ll be able to quickly share with your social network and have enough time to get back to what you were doing.

How it works:

VoteSpotter finds your local legislators by your home address, and begins alerting you to their recent votes.

Within seconds you’ll be able to read brief, plain-English descriptions of the bills.

Simple and powerful.

Until elected officials in state capitols and in D.C. limit themselves from deliberating on everything under the sun (e.g. the official state tartan, hair salon licensing, unflavored rice or soy milk, etc.), VoteSpotter is here to show you what your legislators actually did, rather than what they said they would do, and help you spot the really important needles in the haystack.

Their votes. Your Views. Simple and powerful.

Good concept

ingas mine

I like the concept and use the app. As others have stated, the delay in reporting the vote is long. Also, even though I put my personal email address in the app, my congressman’s messages use my work email and I cannot figure out how/why. And sometimes there doesn’t seem to be a category that really fits the issue when giving feedback.

Developer Response

Thank you for using VoteSpotter! The app uses your phones mail app to send messages to your legislators, and you should be able to select which email address to send it from within that app. Please let us know if this problem persists. Thank you!

Taking over a month to post votes

Bruce Hobbs

Christopher Wray was confirmed as the new Director of the FBI on August 1. This vote showed up on VoteSpotter today, September 10, over a month later. This delay makes the app almost useless; I'm being generous with three stars.

Developer Response

Thank you for your feedback! VoteSpotter is not a live feed of votes as they happen, but carefully curated descriptions of what bills actually do. We are also actively working to provide the same content on upcoming votes, so stay tuned for updates in the coming months. We hope this rates us fives stars in your book!

Doesn't recognize my address and I put it in exactly like my driver's license. Then I tried different spelling including South instead of just the S on my license.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble using the app. What address are you trying to input?
