Editors’ Notes

Walmart’s app lets you browse thousands of products, search for items that have recently gone on sale, and even refill your prescriptions. But the savings catcher is pure genius: scan a receipt for any purchase made in the last seven days, and if a competitor in your area is advertising a lower price, Walmart automatically gives you the difference. It’s a fantastic, hassle-free way to save money without the need to shop around.

A few in store tweaks needed

I like using this app inside and outside of a WM store. I didn’t give 5-stars for two reasons, one of which WM stores themselves must correct. The other is on corporates shoulders.
WM stores themselves *must* have better inventory counts as they do not match what is out on the app. Sometimes prices are WAY off ($5 ++) but mainly when I go to a store, cannot find a price and scan through my app. The app will show the store has zero of this item in inventory. However I’m standing in front of a couple of stacks of these items.
The corporate reason is... let’s Clearance some of this (seasonal) stuff out. However instead of taking a dime to a dollar or two off of an item ...how about giving deep, very deep discounts. Luckily split... you will clear out what is needed and have a lot more room for your newer or best seller items.
I’m in a roll... corporate WM, let’s talk about plants. I am appalled that after plants are in a clearance that the workers must come by and DUMP these viable plants in the TRASH. For Pete’s sake... how about putting out a blast to local charities? Or assigning an interested customer to give to charities (many shelters can grow food for themselves and other hungry Americans), or trim back to bring to local nursing homes. There is a host of ways to use these and you still get your (charitable) tax write off.

Location having big problems

Shopping at Lewisville, TX store on E Round Grove is far less than satisfying right now. The air conditioning in the entire west half of the store has been out for several weeks and I have been told it will be several more weeks until it will be fixed. It is a misery shopping right now in this heat and humidity unless you can restrict yourself only to groceries!
Not only that, but at the end of the last week, the ice cream freezers (and I do not know how many other freezers) were down for some time. When I picked up a gallon of Blue Bell this week, all the cartons were iced over and the containers suffered weakness from the condensation. I took a shot thinking they wouldn’t be selling the same ice cream. Well, how do you know when the ice cream has melted a great deal and been refrozen? The cream has separated from other ingredients leaving bites of ice throughout. Not all lost it’s consistency, but a good portion has.
Then, totally unrelated, I picked up a loaf of bread that the vendor should never have let get out of their bakery... the top crust was burnt black and the entire loaf was dry and inedible. Walmart always stands behind their policy of returning poor items and they let me return this.
So, for now I am driving a ways away and shopping at other Walmarts. If it is truly going to be several more weeks before the AC is fixed, how on earth do the staff handle it?
